2015 Nismo Muffler Delete (requires welding)

Possibly the ugliest muffler delete on the web, but I thought I would attempt to create a muffler delete on my own before purchasing a manufactured one in case it was too loud. I was able to source a used oem stock take off from CL for $40 included the muffler and mid pipe. I used the tips, hangers and flanges and then purchased two 90 degree pipes from Azone ($12 for both).

I cut 7" off the the back of the mid pipe and pressed the bolts out of the flanges. I flipped those over to reverse the angle tacked them to the 90s. I cut the tips loose as close to the muffler as possible and surprisingly the tips came out exactly where I wanted them to. I cut the hangers from the old muffler and again they were usable without any cutting.

This mod allows me to keep my stock nismo muffler ready to bolt back on in a matter of minutes. It is certainly loud and has some drone. Even my wife finds it acceptable though. Sorry no vids and no recordings as I don't think they ever really provide a usable reference.

All in all it's a cheap way to see what a muffler delete sounds like and at the very least it saved about 30lbs.

Very cool, congrats!

Just a small suggestion... You should paint the new exhaust pieces in black for a cleaner look

Nonetheless, good job:tup:

I didn't realize the new Nismos changed to a Y-pipe exhaust. The old ones have an H-pipe.

That's the stock regular exhaust

Correct the 2015 Nismo still has the full dual exhaust. The picture is of the oem standard exhaust that I purchased just to get the flanges and tips.
