need help with blackcherry paint job

hey guys - was just looking for a little advice. apologies in advance if someone has spoke about this problem on this color before, i looked around and didnt see anything on it. i bought a black cherry 2010 with 22k miles about a month ago. the vehicle had a few scratches and chips, and i was able to knock off quite a bit of $ below the OTD price we had reached prior to me inspecting the vehicle. the front bumper and hood are in my opinion damn near ruined. i will post some pics later im at work now. love bug damage covers the hood, and the bumper is pecked with rock chips. i brought it home, used mequir products, good clean, clay barred, waxed, and wax sealed the vehicle. 2k miles later, i am seeing new rock chips appearing almost daily. its as if the clear is non existent. im at the point of buying a carbon fiber hood and aftermarket bumper. my body shop where i work recomendded i paint the whole car so it would match.:shakes head: any advice?

oh i also had my body shop buff it and it made it worse. cleaned the swirls up but the chips came out more

Welcome to the land of Nissan paint. Repaint and then add protection such as a clear bra or opticoat. Those are you only real options. The chips will get worse over time.

yep... my black cherry shows the imperfections very easily... darker colors usually do but this is ridiculous... i'm gonna have it professionally buffed out and hopefully that'll help... i also have some scaring on the hood/roof... probably from bird crap... it sat on the dealer's lot for about a year... it was raining when i bought it so i didn't notice... brought it to their attention and they want it for 2 days to take care of it... NO WAY... my z's not your joyride... my buddy works for a body shop and he's gonna take care of it for me :D

thats what im thinking ill have to do. i work at a dealership so i can get decent rates as far as any body/service work would go. i wanted to do a carbon fiber hood and stillen front fascia, so i think i might just go with that instead of a repaint. still debating. thanks for the advice guys!

i would paint the hood and bumper and get a clearbra installed

got a pretty good quote from my body shop, 800$ painted. not to bad, idk what clear bra's run around here.

Plus 1 with opticoat. It will surely protect your paint for the longest time with a incredible shine.

make sure you go to a place that use clearbra rolls, not pre-cut clearbar to do your hood. the bumper is okay to use pre-cut.

I agree with kenchan. Having a pre-cut clear bar in your hood would be a hit and miss situation. Sometime pre -cut shrinks to it normal size due to temp.
