there's only room for one car in the garage and it's mine. I don't want it to get scratched. And as you can see I have my cleaning cart right next door.

I enjoy cleaning my car. I can spend mindless hours with a microfiber and wax, drink a microbrew or two, crank up the tunes in the garage, and really enjoy it. I would answer yes to all the OP questions except the tapping feet one. I've got weathertechs so I don't mind dirty feet.

Well I thought I was OCD but some of you are more so than I. I have weathertechs inside and really avoid driving in the rain. The car does get a brief rain shower at work and we are near the interstate so there's tons of dirt in the air. I'm afraid of scratching the paint by just using a QD so I just wash often with a hose.

For the OP:
  1. Yes, rain just helps wash the soap off faster.
  2. I don't have to ask at this point.
  3. She's never given me any nicknames, but that's likely because she likes riding in a clean car.
My wife, family, and friends all know drinks and food are a "no-go" in my Z. As for washing; just about every weekend. Wax as necessary. I keep a microfiber in the car to wipe off dust. Fortunately I park in a garage at work so it avoids the Florida sun most of the year.

I was at work and on my lunch I was using quick detailer on my car with a lovely soft microfiber just to make sure it wasn't bothered being out of its garage (normally I wouldn't take it out at all but I was feeling crazy). A doctor I work with comes out and sees me he goes.

Doctor: What are you doing?
Me: Using my free time to enjoy my car
Doctor: Its clean already why do you need to keep cleaning it
Me: I don't know, I am compelled to do this
Doctor: Well in that case let me diagnose you as a "Carcissist"

Needless to say he is right...

I am not. My Z is clean occasionally and then it gets dirty, but I buy a car to drive it, not obsess over every miniscule bit of dust on it.

used to be the first few months of ownership. Now it's dirty as hell and I don't care anymore, unless I'm driving to meet up with some friends or to a meet; then I'll clean it up a bit, but it's usually nothing more than just QD

This thread is so me. Spent almost $250 on Zaino products and other stuff and 6hrs straight of all hand washing/waxing. Was up till 3am myself. Now I was her once every 2/3 weeks and apply a new layer of detailing spray and sealant. I also touch up in between washes with my California duster. Luckily the interior is so small so that's a piece of cake to maintain with a microfiber.

i get the nylon coated sponge out every evening to get the bugs off the front end, windshield and side mirrors...then i use a california duster...then i rub the whole car down with my microfiber towel...only have to give zeus a good hand-washing about twice/month...and that's due to the brake dust build-up on the wheels...ocd as charged when it comes to my z

I keep a wet MF towel inside a ziplock bag in my Z, just in case birds come-a-pooping my way, just wring on top of the poop and then wipe off with caution

This is the best product I've found that removes bugs and DOES NOT scratch the paint. Not sure how it doesn't scratch b/c it's pretty rough/hard but it doesn't and I've used them on plenty of cars. Obviously wash the area first before using.

Safe Scrub Bug & Tar Pad can be used on glass, chrome, vinyl, fiberglass, paint and clearcoats—100% safe when used with soapy water.
