Odd bent door

This morning I noticed a dent on my drivers side door. :icon23: The problem is I can't tell how the dent got there as it's on the edge of the door. Looks like someone stuck a screw driver and bent it out. Maybe someone tried to break in? Any idea what would cause this damage? There's no damage on the fender at all just the door.

This...looks like an a$$hole was trying to steal your car! Maybe Im exaggerating, but just this morning some dude in a truck came up to me while i was parking my car and "suggested" i move my car closer to the security guard nearby(this security guard is in another parking lot and is not assigned to our parking spaces at work) i was in such awe that i didnt even bother to ask him why he was making this suggestion(he did insist i move the car closer to the security guard). Needless to say, i spoke with the security dept at work and am getting a parking spot closer to our office and next to OUR security guard. :eekdance:

Very strange, random and wtf moment for me today :shakes head:

Can't even tell if it's theft or vandalism. Guess I have to get a quote from a body shop.

With the lack of damage to the quarter panel, I don't think it was done with a screwdriver. If a screwdriver/pry bar/&c were used, there would be some damage at the fulcrum point. Looks to me like it happened when the door was open. But it's impossible to be sure from just one blurry pic.

your correct. I took a look at the damage from the inside with the door open and noticed that there is a part of panel that sticks out. If the door is open wide enough and with enough force it will catch that part and cause the damage shown. There's even a little mark on the inside where my door touch the part sticking out. I'll try to take a picture of it when I get home. Odd thing is I don't remember opening the door with that much force.

I seriously doubt that it was someone trying to break in, Unless they were wacked out on some good dope. The Z has never had suicide doors.

As someone else mentioned, it's not a pry mark- that's damage from an internal piece being pushed away from the car after it caught on the panel. What a crappy bit of damage :(
