Looking for drying towel
 

Hey guys, im looking for a good drying towel/shammy. Ive been using the same sheepskin shammy for about 8 years and it finally got too old for me. I bought another sheepskin from Amazon that had good ratings, but the thing is absolute crap, too thin, falls apart leaving crap all over my car.

Im looking for a really good drying towel, whatever you pros recommend.

Be very careful with that. Make sure you pat the water off, not wipe. Those things will pick up crap and drag it all over the paint.

yeah i really dont like the absorbers, im looking for something natural, either a microfiber or animal hyde based. Thanks for the link Chuck, ill look at that one.

Thanks for the info. I was unaware of that. I wash my car by hand at least once per week.

I will throw this thing away and purchase your recommended towel.

Yeah, I used one of those for years. Buying a black car has made me refine my technique. :rofl2: It shows every mistake. You can still use it if you pat the car dry (which is really the right way to do it anyway).

Leaf Blower. Nice coat of wax and water beads right off.

RE: Absorber. I have one and tried it. Didn't like it because it got hard. It was stored incorrectly but that's my fault. Tried soaking it in water for a while, but still wouldn't work so I got the above mentioned towel instead.

This is the best way in my experience. I sheet most of the water off with my garage air compressor then use one large microfiber towel to pat down the remaining drops. It's quick and easy and my black Z is still devoid of swirls/hologram/spider webbing :tup:

Thats why I dont own a black car any more! I got so tired of taking care of it a trying to not look at it wrong.............One wrong look and it was stuck in the damn paint!

Exactly what I was going to recommend. It's simply the best drying towel out there Uber makes great towels all around actually. Highly recommended.

The problem is you have to deal with Detailers Domain. Every time I hit their website to buy a $25 item, I end up spending $200. :rofl2:

Uber drying microfiber towels... soft as a babies *** and no scratch or clearcoat worries using them. They are 30 bucks per on Detailers Domain. Even my cleaning lady ooooooh and ahhhhhed the softness of this towel.

waffle weave MF towels is wat i use for drying.

I start out with the above towel to get most of the water off.

I chase streaks and remaining water with a very soft, plush microfiber: Uber Quick Detailer Microfiber Towel from DD.

After that, I'll do the door jambs, smaller nooks, hatch gutters, windows and chase spots I miss or generate while doing this with general purpose cheaper microfibers, things like these from Amazon: Amazon.com: Eurow Microfiber 16 x 16in Premium 350 GSM Cleaning Towels 25-Pack (Yellow): Automotive. I'll save these black ones for rims/wheels and other nastier spots, usually 1 per wheel: Eurow Microfiber Premium 12 x 12in 350 GSM Cleaning Towels Black - 25 Pack : Amazon.com : Automotive

To me, this is still a lot of time and wiping towels on my paint and chasing streaks around the car. Hence my earlier thread on cordless leaf blowers or other drying tools. :)

Lastly, always wash your microfibers before first use!
