Wheel cleaner for '13 sport package wheels

Wanted to know what '13 owners with sport package are using to clean their wheels. Ive seen that sonax is favored around here but have not heard anyone using it for these wheels. Saw griots wheel cleaner and that also caught my eye, but havent seen it used on these wheels either. I ask this because so far ive been using just soap and water for the wheels and even though they still have agood shine to them, they dont look THAT clean anymore. Also, what works well for removing tar from the wheels? Ive used WD40 before cheaper wheels but not sure if its safe to use on my '13 SP wheels. Completely terrified of ruining these wheels. Thanks in advance. :tiphat:

WD40? Really???

Honestly, I use Simple Green and it works great.

Just make sure the wheels are COLD before you spray anything on them

 i know i know... As embarrased as i am about it, I mentioned it because ive seen it work, although im not sayin its the correct method. Cheap wheels=cheap method. For my SP wheels, i want what works best:happydance:. Just thought that it might be an option for tough caked on tar. Does simple green remove the tar from your wheels? Ive been real anal so far about applying anything besides soap and water, but the tar is starting to get on my nerves. :shakes head:

I've been using Sonax

2012 Rays, no issues yet - now just wish I could find a easy way to clean the lug nut holes.

BTW, with the Sonax there is still a bit of scrubbing to do and then a final wipe.

Thanks Jim. I continued to search last night and it seems that scrubbing is a must for most safe wheel cleaning products(sonax, griots, etc.) I would like to see the results with only spraying the wheel cleaner and then pressure washing them, as unfortunately a gas station pressure washer is what i use to wash my car. Either way, i always follow up with soap and water, but wanted a wheel cleaner to remove that top coat of dirt, brake dust, tar, etc.

You need to use something that is safe for the wheels paint think of them as just another painted surface. I recommend sonax full effect wheel cleaner or for lighter washing Chemical Guys wheel cleaner.

MAKE SURE not to use any buckets or tools to wash your wheel that you use to wash your paint! You can severely scratch your paint from the brake dust even after rinsing.

Really? I've been doing the two bucket method with grit guard and thought i was being anal enough. Was not aware this was possible. Thanks. :tiphat:

doesn't need anything special if you wax the wheels. i just use optimum no rinse. treat them delicately

Try out some Adam's Deep Wheel Cleaner. Trust me once you start using Adam's Products you will get addicted. It isn't cheap but their products work extremely well.

I LOVE their Detail Spray. Also they are a sponsor of the fourms and offer some discounts if you check out their sponsor page.

Thanks! Had waxed them before but i guess its effect went away since it was regular car wax. Will try wheel wax in the future.
