Automatic car washes still scare the **** out of me though and I would never take my 370Z through one, my dirty SUV on the other hand...

Quite frankly 99% of them i would not go to.

I don't use touchless car washes on any of my cars. for anyone that has seen or been to those kind of car washes will know that it uses harsh chemical to basically "melt" any dirt off the car first. on a touchless car washes they will spray the chemical and let it sit there for several rounds before it finally sprays it off. after multiple uses of this kind of car wash you will notice etching in the clear coat. Bad bad bad

That only means they have enough money to not give a s*it about the appearance of the car. They just buy another.

I see really nice cars going through car washes too. They also have swirl marks all over the paint. Most people don't care or don't notice paint imperfections on that small of a level. Even rich folks!

Good info, but it actually makes auto car washes sound worse when you describe the brushes as "mr octopus" or side spinners.

I will just spend 2 hours a week washing the car myself

Well, imo most auto washes ARE terrible and I wouldn't go to 99% of them. However, in the case of my previous employer, I would take my car through that car wash in the drop of a dime. Simply because I know they care, and they do a good job.

But I wash my car myself now, it is sort of like one of those work/fun things. It's almost like a hobby seeing how clean I can keep it. At this point, I don't even know where a good car wash near my house is. There is one on the corner that seems legit, but I have never even given it a thought.

They're not car enthusiasts :stirthepot:
