North Dakota winter ruined my paint!

So I have driven my Z through a North Dakota winter without wrecking it, but winter still took its toll on my paint. After cleaning my car today, I noticed on the rear bumper and deck lid "dirty tiger stripes". So I get the clay bar out and start going over the car. Other than all the rock chips the paint is silky smooth, yet the stripes are still on the back. What kinda of cutting compound should I use to try and remove these dirt stripe? Its almost like the paint is stained. I plan on getting the car repainted in the next few years (bought it used and it has a couple small dents and the clear is spidered on the front bumper a little and some on the drivers rear. Anyone have their Z fully painted? How much did it run you?

If you have clay barred it and there is no change, then you need to buy an orbital polisher. You can get them at pep boys for ~40 bucks. Clay bar removes some gunk, but if there is damage, then it needs to be worked out with a rubbing/polishing compound. start with something like turtle wax polishing compound(light medium/haze remover), if that doesn't do it then go to a rubbing compound(heavy/medium remover) Get it clean, then polish it, then seal it with a good wax.

Don't do this. The polisher's available over the counter or nothing but fancy wax spreaders. If you want to pursue doing this yourself, go to Adam's Premium Car Care - Cleaners, Waxes and Polishes Made in the USA and purchase a Flex or a Porter Cable.

+1

Stay AWAY from Pep Boys!

Lots go places to buy quality products, Adams, carfare online, auto geek.

Go with the least abrasive product. If it doesn't work, use the next one. Lots of how to's on all these sites.

Interested in some pictures of these tiger stripes.

The worst part I bet is underneath... The salt they lay down in the north will kill a Z underbody with all the aluminum braces.
You should have had the car clear bra'd to prevent rock chips and underneath sprayed with a rust proof coating but to late for that now.

I had a 350z years ago in Maine I stored in the winter so it didn't see salt, it was also clear bra'd as even the summer months the roads still had a lot of sand etc.
My buddy had a 350z he drove in the winter and I distinctly remember the post when he got an exhaust done the whole bottom was red/brown with rust!! Yikes
