Corrosion

I use the Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner on my Z wheels on a regular basis. I noticed today though that parts of the non-Sport Package calipers have begun to oxidize. Could this be a result of the cleaner? I make sure that I rinse all four corners well after use. Any one else have this issue?

Thank you in advance.

I would suggest using a wire brush and scrubbing the crap out of the caliper. Sonax isn't known for causing oxidization.

The brush should get that caliper looking back to where it needs to be.

Thank you for the responses. AGAVE, that's exactly what I currently have... interesting.

Well the best way to deal with corrosion is explained above...because paint protect the iron particles and stop moisture to getting the iron. so the best way is clean them with some sand paper and then paint them. that's it.

If I am not mistaken all Sport package calipers are painted with the nissan logo on them. I guess it can oxidize but if it happened quickly and the car is under warranty maybe you can claim it was never sealed properly. Either way if you have metal/steel calipers if you live in a damp climate with a lot of humidity and moisture and or salt in the air from the ocean you will notice an orange grime on the rotors and calipers almost daily. This can not be prevented. I live on the ocean and need to replace rotors yearly because of this issue and the things pitting due to the salt. Good luck moving forward but dont let it stress you out as long as the car stops right.

Thanks all for your time and input. Glad it's neither just me nor result of Sonax use.

Wow that does look quite nasty. The sport package calipers are painted and I have no issues with mine rusting. I agree clean them off, sand and paint to prevent that from happening.
