Winter prep

Just a quick post, and a quick wash and prep of my 370z before I put the car cover on for the winter.

The usual Sonax shots,

Getting my foam gun ready. Just water and Adams car wash,

Foamed. Still haven't figured out how to get the heavy coat of foam...

Checking the temp. The temp was dropping fast,

A quick snack break... the celery was gone first, lol,

The car is a 2009 model originally bought early 2010. I just purchased it end of August this year. It only has 6000 miles on it. I don't think it's ever been clayed because this is the results from half of the roof,

Im saving a full correction for the spring when weather warms up a bit. I really just wanted to make sure it was clean before the car cover went on. After the clay I did a coat of MPL, Sonus on the tires, and wiped down the engine,

Here she is covered up. I bought the cover from CoverQuest. They are very good as far as shipping to Canada goes. I opted for the Noah fabric even though it will only be stored indoors. I'm very happy with the fit and finish of the cover,

It's going to be the longest winter of my life! lol

I am planning on putting her to sleep this weekend. The temperature is supposed to be about 60° and sunny, so this will NOT be a pleasant experience. You are correct that it will be a LONG A$$ winter. Nighty, night good friend!:hello:

ya, mine has been in the garage but out she comes this week! 55-60 and sunny thursday-saturday! Happy thanksgiving everyone!

P.S. Do you happen to live near North Olmsted?

mults 11-23-2011 08:00 PM

I live on the east side in Mayfield Heights. Not too far away.

I'll be doing the same myself soon... the silver cleans up nice, best part about that color. I don't have your foam gun but the one I have has different selectors with different size holes that allow more or less foam out... you should have something similiar.

MattP725 11-23-2011 08:31 PM

Also more soap or less water in the solution will increase foam too. I do approx 50/50 and get a good coat.

Yeah, my foamer has the selectors, I've tried them out with some success. I think I'm not using enough soap, only ~1 oz. plus water. I'll try doing 4+ oz of soap plus water and see how that goes.

Looking nice and clean....I'm probably looking to drive everyday other than snow days here in NY with the harsh winters.

nmjaxx9 11-24-2011 11:37 PM

Nice work, looks like what I did before I tucked the Z away for the winter.

dennis26 11-25-2011 10:14 AM

Some things I don't miss since moving south. Selling my snow blower and putting my car up for the winter.

I hear ya! I've lived in Canada (Ontario) all my life.... I wouldn't miss the snow for one second if I moved to warmer climates!

looks good. hope you let the car dry for about a week before you put the cover on. mine was washed last week and waiting for everything to completely dry. :)

I gave it 3 days, dusted it off then covered it up. Was thinking I should have put some plastic on the floor to park on...

bflosabre91 11-29-2011 10:52 AM

I have the same car cover :D

I like it so far, I guess we will see how it looks in the spring to give a good review of the cover though. Mine will also sit in the garage all winter but so far the cover seems pretty nice. Fits great and the material seems nice.

:iagree: The fit and finish is bang on! I'm sure it will be just fine in the garage... I'm almost tempted to do a wet weather test on it.... almost lol
