Default Porter Cable 7424xp not spinning

I just recently bought the PC 7424xp and began to work on my car today. I didn't put a mark on the yellow spinning disc at first but after awhile I actually put a line on there to see if the pad is actually spinning.

What I found out was that a lot of the time when the pad makes contact with the car paint the pad doesn't spin very well and just vibrates.

How can you fix this spinning problem? The PC spins just fine when it's not on contact with anything.

You should read the faq on how to use the pc. You should use the high setting once the polish is spread. The pc only needs about 10 lbs of pressure. If you press hard enough it may stop spinning. You shouldn't turn the pc on unless its making contact with the car.

I read the manual and watch the video. I use speed setting 5 for swirl removal (first step). Even when I'm on the last step with no pressure except for the machine's own weight, it still stop spinning at some point during the work.

They provide good customer service. Call them up and see if they will change it out. It could just be a bad one.
