For those with darker color Z's!

I dug up an old thread and copied the pics from when I had detailed my Evo X. It had some minor correction as I remember, but nothing major.

The point of this thread is to show what some of your typical sealants will do with the finish... perhaps someone can post some wax pictures.. or even different types of sealant pics of their car/a car they have detailed.

This happens to be the same I used on the Mazdaspeed 3 (Duragloss 105). It looks nice on white, but on this red I had forgotten how it really made me fall in love with sealants instead of your standard waxes.

The hood, since I could take this one outside.

I like to ensure that any area where water might get to is protected so all around the door jams were sealed.

You can really see how glassy the look of this polish is. I really like it.

Here's how my Z looked after her first application of Meguiars NXT Tech Wax 2.0. Looks slippery wet even when it starts getting a little dusty. Love this stuff!

that looks good... how long did it last you? Or was this pic pretty recent?

my2004Z 07-10-2011 09:52 PM

That pic was when it was fairly new back in 2009. The car looks exactly the same now. The polymer waxes are much easier to use and in my opinion more consistent than carnuba waxes. Just make sure your Z is squeeky clean before applying. You'll know it's ready because it will be smooth to the touch. EDIT - It lasts 4-6 months at a time and can be layered!

:happydance:

I was looking at that when I went to Wal-mart tonight as well as Meg's Ultimate Wax Liquid (you'd think they could come up with a cooler name than that lol) but I just wasn't to sure about how well it worked.

@Dylan: Awesome! Like glass!

Methodical4u 07-12-2011 01:40 AM

Very nice reflection on that black Dylan. My last car was black... and I had a nice shine on it.. but this weather here... you just CAN'T keep it clean. Now I have white and white which looks really nice when cleaned up, but to REALLY notice the shine you have to be under some parking lot lights or something.

Nevermind... I just noticed you're out there in Cali lol... not as much rain there i'm guessing huh?

I always wanted to go to Cali... drive along the coast, around some of the mountain areas, etc. Just seems like it would be such a cool drive.... 3,000 miles away for me.

Yea, its much easier to own black here. I could NEVER do it in an area that sees "weather". I'm too picky about my finish and I'd probably become a hermit during the winter so my paint wouldn't get dirty LOL.

My wifes SUV is outside 24/7/365 so it was an easy choice on color - WHITE!

wow! Nice truck man :tiphat:

Yep, you'd be washing, waxing and polishing all year round with black here i'm afraid...now when it's clean? Yep, nothing can look better... for about2 or 3 days lol... then the pollen hits and your car/truck has gone from black to yellow overnight.

Not black, but Black Cherry...all Adam's products. Very pleased...don't feel the need to shop around for anything else.

Definitely a GREAT looking color.. had I seen one in person I would likely have been very interested in it. Nope, there isn't always a reason to shop around. I like trying new products when my time and such allows to try them... and when I have a car to try them on. My Fiancee's car is obviously white and so is mine, so i'm sort of out of luck when it comes to trying products on different colors, but I get pretty excited when I have a darker color I can try something on.

A lot of the look of a car is in the prep as any detailer will tell you, but there are differences in different types of waxes, sealants etc. I like a sealant look over wax... though recently I tried collinite 915 and liked it a lot... but on a darker color it would look better.

Anyway, looks real nice man.

wow! real sexy lookin cherry black man!...which adams wax product did u finish off with?
