Yellow Clearcoat
 

I think my clear coat might be getting tarnished.

I have had little pollen or bird crap land on the car, and since it sits outside all day during work days... the dun in South florida seems to bake it into the clear coat....

When i get home to clean the car, I notice that now the clear coat is a shade of yellow. which on a silver car is highly noticeable...

anyone have this happen to them? or know how to solve this?

first buff and wax the car, still there simple paint correct should fix it...I recommend a shop do it. However simple DIY you can fugg it up worse.

If that was happening to me, I would give it a good wash then clay bar it before trying to polish. I would be afraid trying to polish before claying might make whatever is on there grind itself into the paint and cause micromarring. If you've never clayed before, you can google it and find out from people way smarter than me how to do it, but the secret to claying is lubrication, lubrication, lubrication. Good luck!

No you're not. Of course I am saying this without looking at the car, but I think claying will work well. Of course, don't just take my word for it, but in my experience, clay has helped me a lot in the past. What I envision is that when you clay, all the crap on your Z will come out and stick to the clay, so you will have to continuously roll and knead the clay to keep it fresh. Once all that crap comes off, you will have a nice clean palette to do your polishing on. Wash again after claying, polish, apply some sealant (for protection), apply wax, for depth. Then if you are like me, park her in the driveway, set up your lawn chair, drink a beer and enjoy how pretty she is again. Good luck!:tup:

Not "screwed" at all. It's a pretty easy repair, but it is time consuming. The guys here have it right. You need to clay bar to get rid of the gunk built up on the paint. The flaying part is actually the easiest. You can probably bring the gloss back with a fine grit polish and a Porter cable DA polisher. Finish off with a few coats of wax and she'll look better than new. Check out Adam's polishes website. They have great videos on there or search for junkman's videos.

+1 on the clay bar, more than likely its not the clear that has yellowed but stuff attaching itself to the clear and imbedding itself in it. have the same issue with the yellow around the exhaust, turns brown and washing wont remove it. clay bar was the only thing that took it off the finish.
