Black spots that smear

When I wash my car most of the dirt comes off fine, left behind are little black specs/dots. I continue to wash these spots and usually they come right off after repeated rubbing. Then some spots leave a trail behind them like im writing on the car or something... Pearl White does not like this at all. I can continue to wash were the mark is left and it fades but doesnt completely go away. I think clay barring might be the best bet as i do not have any detail supplies at all :( . Does anyone know what im talking about and have a solution to prevent this and fix the small marks left behind?

To me it sounds like small tar spots. I would suggest a bug and tar remover. Meguiars makes a pretty good one. I have a white Z also and get those. Kind of annoying. Bug and Tar remover always seems to remove it.

I know what you're talking about. I believe those things are tars from the road. I've personally have just scrub the crap out of them with soap.

Thanks ive tried scrubbing and it just pisses me off more because there are so many! I will try the bug and tar remover appreciate it man! (You know my pain with the white!)

I hear ya! Just be careful you don't scrub too hard. This paint is weak! After Bug and Tar it's not a bad idea to wax the areas after. Gotta love the white though!

After I'm done drying my car I spray soap on my clay bar and remove the grease, etc. I don't like spraying chemicals all over the paint.

what kinda soap and clay bar do you use?

azn370z 04-20-2011 04:17 PM

I clay my entire z once a year. And with the used clay bar I use it to clay spots after every wash. I use zaino clay and put a cap full of zaino soap and water into a spray bottle. Any fine clay bar and car soap should be ok.

My guess is that it could be road tar or maybe even tire dressing (flung off from tires). I usually can get this stuff off by using a quick detailer product. Less chance of scratching and adds protection when you're done.

I was thinking tire dressing also. If its on the sides and its constant no matter where you go its definitely tire dressing. Switch to a different product that doesn't "sling".
