Outdoor car covers

I'm in the market for an all-season car cover but can't find any real unbiased reviews. I need something that can tolerate moderate Long Island rain/snow. Price really isn't a concern as long as I'm buying a quality product. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be appreciative.

I'm also in for honest feedback and reviews of an all-season outdoor car cover.

I was about to pull the trigger on the "Coverking Stormproof" custom car cover.... but dont need it quite yet. Plus, its an outdoor cover, but will be using it indoors... only occasionally outdoors.

I looked at coverking and it seemed to be one of the better covers out there.

Question about car covers. Do you basically have to have the car cleaned before covering it?

Detailers will tell you not to cover it if it is dirty beacause the cover can move the grit around and make microscratches in the paint. It is no worse though than washing the car incorrectly and making swirls in the paint.
Personally-I dust the car off with a California Duster before putting the cover on-which is what i do. The car is pretty clean and only has dust/pollen on it when i do this. If there are any other things-like bird poo-I get it off immediately since it is corrosive. Then i cover the car. Pretty simple and keeps the car looking good-guards against wandering cat prints thru the night. :tiphat:

Is your cover an "all weather" cover that's suitable for outdoors during the winter months?

sure is-UV protection and waterproof. It is great!

yah, unless it's going to be covered the entire snow season i would not use a cover as part of daily routine. it just invites swirls and scuff marks from the dust and grit that remains on the car.

some ask how about QD'ing before covering? sure, but make sure you dont swirl the finish while QD'ing each time. it's a pita. just keep the cover off, wash frequently, wax or seal the paint frequently. you can get some wax-as-you-dry products (Prima Hydro is what i use on dd's). great stuff.

I know they look kind of ghetto, but I was thinking of getting one of those "tent" like enclosures instead of a car cover. The cover always ends up collecting some kind of dirt and debris that ends up on the car.

If you can get the legs stationary that's a good idea. I would worry on a windy day... If the thing lifts up the legs can hit the car!

This is the one i've been using since june of 09 it woks great. I wouldn't use any if there wasn't some damn cats that climb all over the cars at night.

I haven't decided on one yet but I've been reading up on the differences between all the models covercraft sells.

I'm leaning towards the weathershield hp and ultratect.

I just order the Noah today. We'll see in a few weeks how it goes.
