Cleaning Bugs off a Clear Bra
 

Anybody have any good advice.

I have waxed mine twice and can't get these damn Zdayz bugs off. I am afraid to use anything on the film due to discoloration or scratching it.

Anybody have any success?

Hot water, mild soap, and a bug sponge.... add elbow grease.... = bug-less clear bra.

The important thing here is the hot water. It does work

pressure washer under 1600 psi.... works great and then a little rubbing with a microfibre wash mitt does the job.

You always want to remove them as fast as possible.

But after the fact I would first try a wash, starting with a good pre-soak to soften it up.
If that doesn't remove it all, I would use a mild polish.
They don't recommended it, but when used with care it's fine.

Then if you still see it a little, you can leave it and see if it bleaches out over time.

Also covering it with some good sealant will help to avoid any future problems.

Do not use a high pressure wash on your clear bra!

I am going to try the hot water, and mild soap. I am not so sure about the pressure wash and polish

pressure washing is fine as long as you stay under 1600 psi. I have been doing it for years with no ill effects.

Pressure wash is a certain NO for me. If only it were for the fact that a little edge could turn into a big one before it gets trimmed.

Mild polishes are fine on quality film.
I would only do it by hand to avoid warming up the plastic....
But I've never had any issues...

If you don't already use it I'd recommend using Plexus for cleaning your clearbra. That stuff is amazing, it cleans, polishes, and seals. It leaves the clearbra extremely smooth after applying it, and its really easy to use.

+1 on Plexus.

I use Z-AIO instead...

But after zaino-ing the car completly, any bugs wash right off...

use Meq's APC+ try 1:10 ratio can work up to 1:4 if you need stronger, and light clean with a microfiber towel or wash mit. there are various other bug/tar cleaners that are very safe for all coatings and a clear bra will hold up fine too.

Start conservatively and work your way up if you can't get them out.

I pretty sure that a clay bar would work perfectly though. It worked wonders at getting rusty rail dust out of the paint of my brother's white corvette.

I dunno about using a claybar. My Clear bra installer said absolutely do not use a claybar on it. Even my Venture Shield lifetime warranty card says not to use a claybar on it.

Then next time you go out to Zdays, you'll just invest in some roadwrap... only costs $12 ... and peels right off

My installer suggested Plexus or Novus#1 as a plastic cleaner/polish, both available at your local Harley dealer.

i use dryer sheets. wet em and wipe. work great. oh by the way,used ones.

Meguiars PlastiX does a decent job as well. And my experience with clay is not not go anywhere near the clearbra with the clay.

try klasse all in one auto polish, i just removed some dead bugs off my clear bra today after washing the car. It can also remove numerous contaminants off the car and creates a nice glossy finish afterwards.

I tried claybar, it doesn't work unfortunately, gonna try the hot soap water approach.

Use the dryer sheet method mentioned above. You'll be amazed. The sheets break down the guts somehow. As a Florida resident that has to deal with love bugs twice a year, this has been the best method so far to tackle massive amounts of bug guts (and I mean seriously heavy volumes of bugs)

Use APC..like Adams all puporse cleaner. When you wash the front end, make sure its in the shade and soak it really well with APC. It should just fall off after about a minute or so of soaking time and sponge with a good soap. If it works on my car with 2 months worth of bugs in the sun everyday, then it should work on yours. I would also suggest using a good sealant on the film to prevent this from happening again.

right now i actually have just the clear white splatter residue which is impossible to remove even after a 2 bucket car wash and claybar. but i'm open to try anything

There is a reason it's not recommended to use them on the towels you use to dry your car.

Anybody have experience removing stains from a clear bra? Either bug guts or some type of poo left a few yellow colored stains on the bra. Car is white, so they show. Tried washing, detail spray, ultra fine swirl remover, plexus, griots clay bar so far and nothing. It's as if it has soaked into the plastic material of the bra.

Use a clear bra cleaner and sealant.

If it's the yellow poo stuff I've seen, those cleaners won't work. It has reacted with the clear bra and pitted it most likely. The stain is more visible because of roughness that is catching the light. Can you feel or see any actual roughness? If you look at the stain at a shallow angle with good light you might be able to tell.

I've heard this can be removed with a blow dryer or heat gun (be careful not to cook it!) or in some cases denatured ethanol (though this seems like a bad idea). Google these approaches first. I haven't tried them myself.

Usually Novus plastic polish #2 works for me on all but the very worst poo stains.

Use Mr Clean, lightly

I've been using a QD (Griot's garage Speed Shine) with a microfiber towel with perfect results. But I always wipe them off frequently, like every other day or so. My car is PW + Ventureshield clear bra.

There is no roughness or apparent depth. Not sure if I want to dry the heating method just yet. I did order some of the Novus #2 from amazon, will also give that a shot. Thanks for the advice.
