Removing overspray from windows?
So I got my Z back from the body shop.... All is well until I noticed what looks to be overspray on my windshield and windows. Can someone tell me how I can possibly remove overspray from my windows? I've tried using a razor blade, but that failed.

Careful use of some paint thinner on the glass will work. Just make sure you don't have any tints/decals/finishes on the glass that the paint thinner will remove as well. Maybe start with nail polish remover before going for straight-up turpentine.

Maybe try a claybar? No idea if it will work. Next question is why wasnt that area blocked off?

Thanks..., I'll try nail polish first. The Z was just getting the rear bumper painted, I guess while it was parked outside the shop, paint fumes in the air settled on the windshield??? Still I'm pissed this had to happen.., gotta do some complaining on Monday.

Use a one sided razor blade, at an angle should remove any paint.

Clay will be more than sufficient as a matter of fact I recommend you clay your glass as often as you clay your paint. Overspray, sap, industrial fall out, all have a tendency to bond to any exposed surface... its not like it saw one part of your car and decided to stick ONLY THERE... if its on the paint, its on the glass.
Claying will make a huge difference in clarity, it will also allow wipers to work more effectively, and makes the glass easier to clean when its nice and smooth. |
I've spent hours trying with a clay bar and a razor blade, but none of those seem to work. Haven't tried nail polish remover yet. However I will be taking it back this Saturday to the body shop and hopefully fix this problem. Just annoyed that whatever it is stuck all over my windows is not comming off!!! I mean what can it possibly be....? If it really is just paint, shouldn't it easily come right off?
