Yellowish heat stains on CBE - need advice

2 Attachment(s)
After a day at the track, my CBE turned from silver / chrome into a "yellow / gold" color due to heat..

Any thoughts on how to clean this or as the heat change the metal coloration for good?

Ya the color change is there to stay. However it doesn't look bad

Its a feature now! If you tell me what metal that part of the tips are I could find out how hot they got to change them to a gold color. A good friend of mine is a manager of a heat treating company, he gets off on stuff like that.

Fullmonty,
The FI CBE is made of T-304 stainless steel.
Will be interesting to learn at what temp stainlee steel starts to change color!

Yeah, CBE is T-304, but is the tip T-304 as well?

Use a metal polish.

I believe Sebring makes those tips.....could be wrong though.

You may be able to reduce it with some metal polish, but the temp based color changes tend to be pretty permanent.

i think it looks good in that color. looks like you really used it like it was meant to be. :)

Ok so without knowing the exact composition of the metal, it was proably exposed to temps between 250 and 350 degrees could be less could be higher depending on the metal. But apparently it got hot. Really did a nice job with it though

The man himself (i.e.Tony) said so... so i beleive it is T-304 for the CBE mufflers & tips.

I use Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish to shine them up all the time.
