Cleaning and maintaining seats (touring model)
Okay, I searched a few threads about cleaning the seats, but did not find anything definitive. The touring package seat are leather with I believe sythetic suade inserts. The door panel inserts are also the same material. My question is, what do we use to clean them? I hear we can follow the maintainence suggested by Alacantara, but it is probably not the same material, and I think the real Alacantara may be more stain resistant in general.
So what do you think, upholstry cleaners or perhaps something meant for real suade? |
I thought our fake suede was Alcantara. But I'd like to know what should be used on the leather portions of the seat

My general recommendation for materials like that is to use a highly diluted mixture of woolite and water in a sprayer. Spray onto a clean lint free towel and blot at any spot. No excessive rubbing, and don't saturate the material.
I had a similar material in my 2006 Trailblazer SS and it was a pain to keep clean and hated moisture/cleaners. Best bet is to just not get it dirty in the first place :D |
Griot's LeatherCare Spray is definitely your friend. spray into utilty MF towel and wipe down your seats every other week or so. smells great, dries matte. my G's 6yrs old but looks new. :p

I may get blasted for the following suggestion, but I actually got covers for my leather seats. When you're ready to sell your beaZt, the leather looks like new. NOW FLAMERS, FLAME ON! Greetings!

yah, why save your car for the next person? just enjoy it while you have it and use LeatherCare Spray. :D
|
For one thing, ken'-dude, temperatures can reach 108F down here, so having an additional barrier of cloth 'tween your thighs and that h-o-t leather ain't a bad idea. And, keeping your little monZter in great shape isn't bad, either! Greetings.

Damp cotton towel takes care of any soil I have seen on both seat materials. Followed by leather conditioner on the leather parts. Sweaty day after the gym I slip this puppy on
UltraSport Waterproof SeatShield and it works like a champ. I also have one for the passenger side when the kids booster seat goes in. |
I'm looking for a cover that is simple to put on and take off to use after works outs. This way I'm not getting the seats all sweaty, but I can enjoy the leather the rest of the day.

Did you not see the link I posted above? It's a slip cover with pocketed top that goes over the headrest. On and off in like 5 seconds.

No I hadn't refreshed after your post. But thx looks like something I'd want.

I just use the damp microfiber towel I dried the car with to clean my Persimmon leather.
I should get some leather conditioner from Griot's. I find that dark wash jeans rub off on my seats. I can only imagine how bad it would be if I had gotten the Montery Blue with Light Grey leather I was thinking about! |
