It is currently sitting in port waiting for the invoice sheet(been there since last Monday) :mad: . Well anyways i requested that the dealer not do a detail or anything in terms of touching the paint, now the car is pearl white, and i think i am making the right choice in doing this. I hope this will prevent any damage to the paint coming from the dealer, the only think i am nervous about is the fact that there could be a massive miss match between bumpers/side skirts and the body of the vehicle. I also requested they do not drill holes in the front of the car for a front plate just [putting that out there so i dont get asked about it. ;)

so

1. Am i making the right call, as I am super anal about any vehicles appearence, and i have never owned a Nissan before so I havnt worked with the paint. Assuming it will be similar maybe thinner then the german tank paint they throw on Audi's and VW's.

- I was planning a full wash, clay and 3 stage Mothers Wax (any other suggestions that better suit Nissan paint?) then clear bra... :)

2. slightly off topic but how long does it take to get the paperwork together for a car to sell it? What i ordered was already being built just for regular sale for another one of the same companies dealerships, and the dealership i am going through grabbed the car... I am curious if there was travel damage to the vehicle and thats why he is telling me that they are waiting on the invoice for the car so i am a little lost?

I have learned quite a bit lurking and posting in random threads, this is one of the more positive communities i have seen!

Nissan's paint is not like German paint (you've been forewarned). It's...well...thin, fragile, and doesn't like to be crapped on by birds. After you do your detail I would suggest you have a clear bra put on it immediately if you want to avoid the many little pits and rock chips that this car specializes in collecting. :tup:

I literally took backstreets to get where I was having the clear bar installed so that I could drive slow. Did so within the first few days of ownership.

And order a bottle of factory touchup paint as no dealership, at least around me, seems to stock it.

that is what i did on my A4 last May(both touch up paint and clear bra). Also did a windscreen protective film to prevent sandblasting from canyon runs/ drives

I went do this and the only place supposedly who was authorized to do it, didn’t want to as they said they didn't have good luck with the product and were having to replace too many under warranty.

Yes, it has about a 8 month life span if you dont keep on top of it, but i made it through the dust, sand and rain of winter with it, it does the job if you take care of it, i dont however plan on running it on the Z. I dont regret it, but i dont like how much of a PITA is. I have had it on for a year, it has scratches in it from the wiper blades. The only way to get it to remotely look decent again is to use a Cleaning wax. Even then still not what you want to see when you get in the car... :(

I wouldn't bother waxing the car until after you get the clearbra installed, they are just going to have to strip the wax wherever the clearbra is being installed.
