Favorite product in between waxes?
 

What are y’alls favorite product (other than detail spray) for in between waxes?
Any glazes or spray wax? (Use by hand not machine) thanks in advance

In between wash and wax I like to use Meguiars NXT spray wax,Meguiars Quik detailer,Meguiars deep crystal car wash,and Meguiars cleaner wax. Definitely keeps my finish on my Z looking amazing.

Being that I'm highly favored towards ceramic coatings. You can't simply place any (spray wax) over top of a ceramic coating as it can diminish the cleaning properties of the coating. That being said I use Polish Angel High Gloss

These products can even be used as a stand alone product as a coating which gives amazing results.

I’ve been using Turtle Wax Ice liquid wax for years. Love the fact that it’s a clear liquid that can be applied to any surface including plastic, rubber and glass. I even use it on my wheels.

In general, I try to keep it within the same company for sealants/waxes and maintenance products. For example, I have Nanoskin ceramic coating on my car and the company recommends specific products to maintain that coating. Different companies may use different compounds for their coatings, and as bigaudiofanat mentioned, you want you make sure your products are compatible otherwise you may diminish your coating's positive qualities.

Easiest way to figure this out is to call the company whose wax/sealant you use, and ask them which products they recommend to maintain the coating. Otherwise, figure out what type of wax/sealant you are using (e.g. silica-based) and use a compatible maintenance product.

I hit my nismo with Meguiar's D15601 Synthetic X-Press Spray Wax after every wash...using it as a drying agent after I go over it with the absorber. It is amazing.

In between washes to get dust and stuff off I use Griots Speed Shine.

Car is always smooth as butter.

I use ultimate wax by meguiars and you can do the same thing with it but Turtle wax ice was the longest lasting non-ceramic sealant in that test. I'm gonna switch over and start using turtle ice.




I never thought of using it as a drying agent. I used Meguiars ultimate quick wax for a long while because you could get it by the gallon and like their liquid wax, I could use it on all the surfaces except the glass. Nowadays I wax once a season and use water and soap to rinse off the dirt in between.

i hit mine with 3M quick wax after every wash. helps keep dust and whatnot from sticking as bad as it would without. water beads and rolls right off. plus have a great shine to it.

also, it takes 2 min to do the whole car.

Another one I like if you don't have ceramic coatings is AMMONYC Hydrate

I recently switch from Zymol Deep gloss to Chem Guys (WAC21116) detailer, specifically for the mag black z. The product reminds me of Lucas slick mist (wax) as both have high lubricity, CG being better. The Zymol and others I've tried felt thinner, more water based. I give credit to junkman's advice (and HD Poxy) for my paint's reflection but the CG detailer does enhance the wax.

I really wish there was a High Heat version of a quick detailer that didn't streak upon drying.

I have a billion layers of wax on my car, and it's sadly now parked outside, so it gets wiped down usually 1-2x per day or every other day.

With the heat of the summer/car baking outside, I find myself eager to wipe it down and get any small bird droppings removed.

So far I've tried CG synthetic quick detailer (pink mixture); So far this has worked best with minimal streaking, but not perfect. Also have that other CG Hybrid V7.... it loves to streak quite often if sprayed directly onto the paint. It does require more buffing than I'd like, sometimes it does/sometimes it doesn't. It's fairly inconsistent.

So, does anyone have a product that's not some insane $75+ cost for us simple folk that works in high heat that will be used often? Almost seems like it's going to be car cover time for me!

Have you tried a rinse less wash, it can be diluted into a quick detailer, but must be used on a cool surface.
I've been using Wolfgang ONR,and ultima ONR both great products.
Use plenty of quality micro fiber towels.
As for a car cover look at cover craft, they have many different models depending on your needs.
I use the dustless, but that one is for indoor only ( winter storage ) a high quality custom fit cover made for the Z, not some generic one size fits all

Please don’t wipe your car down 1-2x/day, as you are only inducing swirls and RIDS, even with a lubricant. Plus, you would have to be going through so many premium quality microfiber towels per week, it would be a full time job just to wash them. You need to start accepting your car will get dusty and dirty outside. I agree on removing bird droppings asap, but don’t wipe the whole car.
As far as a car cover, this will also scratch the finish on an outdoor car. Layers of wax do not prevent scratches. Ceramic coatings help, but not guaranteed. I use the OEM stretch indoor only cover on my Z, but very rarely. Only when I know it has just been washed and dust-free as possible, and I won’t be driving the Z for quite some time. And even then, I go to great lengths to keep the inside layer of the car cover clean and free of contamination, like from folding it onto the outside layer.
Long story short, it’s a car. It gets dusty and dirty. And yes, I even show my car and have won awards. Detailing is a very involved hobby for me and I enjoy it, but I still track my Z and understand it gets dirty. I can’t always control that. But I can control when and how I touch my paint.
That’s just my thoughts...
