My Wax, Sealant, and AOI recommendations

Hi all.
New here, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite waxes with you. I’ve been collecting, using, and testing waxes for a decade, and have even made my own. Time (and some wasted money) has taught me that big bucks doesn’t always mean big performance. You won’t go wrong with anything on this list, and your Z will look amazing!

Poorboys Natty’s Blue Paste Wax
When you factor in price, ease-of-use, longevity, and looks, this is hard to beat.

Poorboys Natty’s Blue Liquid Wax
My favorite wax. It has nearly sealant-like longevity and ease of use. I like to use a black pad and a DA to apply this. I can’t say it has the same warmth of the paste version, but it it’s definitely a carnauba shine that will last you through the season, and it’s tolerable of hot weather.

Collinite 845
If you value longevity and your money, this is the only wax you’ll ever need. Really. It’s that good. It makes red and orange cars POP. It’s by far not the most sensual wax to use, and it tends to separate in the summer and congeal in the winter. But it's a monster.

Collinite 915
Want 80% of the durability of a synthetic sealant in a carnauba-rich paste? This is it. There’s NO filling ability, and nothing to get in the way of that carnauba glow. 915 can be tricky. Don’t let it dry too long. Do small sections. Trust me on this. But I’ve never seen a dark blue car look better.

DoDo Juice Blue Velvet PRO
When I first used Blue Velvet, the non-Pro version, I was taken aback by the deep luster and warmth. The smell, and the way it glides on, makes it a joy to use. However, longevity was an issue. Enter the PRO version. It has the same polymers as those used in Tropical Mist, which was designed for hot climates. I got an entire summer, in Florida, out of this, on a black SUV, so it’s a serious wax with boutique leanings.

Sonus SFX-4 Sealant
This is one of the best value in sealants. Although the bottle isn’t very big, it’s priced right per ounce. What I like is that it has a carnauba wax look to it and isn’t sterile and boring. It’s super slick, and lasts an entire season plus some. You won't have a craving to top this sealant with wax to get a deep look. Sonus is a sleeper brand with many great value products like Motor Kote, and they have a really good clay.

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0
A bit expensive, but this is the real deal in the otherwise crowded offerings by PBMG. This isn’t the hard candy-shell look of sealants of a few years ago. I think this is a similar formula to Menzerna Power Lock, which looks and acts very similar, but I give the nod to Wolfgang because, to my eye, it looks more like a carnauba. Treat yourself to a bottle.

These next three are "All-In-One" products, or "AOI's". They have a polish in them as well as a sealant.

Wolfgang Uber All-In-One
I don’t think this product is getting the attention or following that PBMG wanted, but it is a dynamite AOI and is super easy to use. At more than twice the price of Finsh Kare 215, I almost have a hard time recommending it, but it is good. Recommended for awesomeness.

Finsh Kare 215 All-In-One
This is a workhorse product. 15 ounces for $13, it just can’t be beat for the money. You can work it lightly without marring, and you can lean into it and do some decent polishing. Either way, you end up with great shine, even on lighter colors that are hard to make pop. Recommended for value + performance.

Chemical Guys Blacklight
I consider this an AIO. If you just want to eliminate minor rain spot etching, love marks, and stains. The benefit here is a deep wet look on dark vehicles. Technically a light cleaner with glaze and sealant. This has now replaced the excellent E-Z Creme Glaze With Acrylic Shine II, so I’m betting the sealant in Blacklight is acrylic. Hard to tell with Chemical Guys. Recommended for glow and depth on dark colors.

I purchased the Colonite 845 and did the entire car today. The wax is really easy to apply and remove, and a small amount goes a long way. I don't think I used more than two table spoons for the entire car. The shine seems nice, but my car is pearl white so it always looks good. :-) Now we'll see how it holds up over the next few weeks.
