Rubber Window Seals

I bought my pre-owned Z this week, and when I got it I noticed what looked like water spots on the rubber seals/molding around the windows. Well now that I have it home I've come to realize that they are more than water spots. It looks like something has eaten into it. The car is otherwise in pristine condition, but this molding is a bit of an eyesore. Is there anything I can put on it or treat it with to try to restore it?

Id just get a new one, but I use Prima Nero 50/50 with water.

Replace it/them and then use a quality trim protector like what Kenchan recommends. It wont heal. Belt moldings for this car are pretty cheap.

I have this same issue. I haven't been able to find part numbers for the belt moldings for both sides, much less a DIY installation guide.

FSM (link in my sig) should have P/Ns and R&R procedures.

I was able to track down the procedure to remove and replace, which is SUPER simple, but it did not have the part numbers listed that I could find in the manual. It's close to 6000 pages though, so maybe I missed it, but I searched every instance of door outside molding that I could find.

I was able to find what appears to be the right thing on courtesy parts, but goodness it's $60+ for each door! Maybe I'll just use a sharpie...

Yeah, it can be difficult to find specific items in such a large manual. Put all the PDFs in a folder and tell your reader to search that folder for "door seal" or whatever.

See if Junkman2008 has any videos about reconditioning the seals. He is the resident expert on keeping your car looking nice.

303 might work

It'd be nice to find a step by step guide on how to replace these moldings on our cars. It seems to be a common issue. I feel like this is something that could be easily done at home in an afternoon instead of paying a shop big $ to do it.
