Insane!

Can't bring in a brand new vehicle from the states. It has to be used.

New law? Or is it Nissan specific? I know this isn't true for other makes, not sure about nissan

cooltoy 08-24-2014 10:51 PM

I looked into it a year ago. Wanted a Nismo. Had to have something like 2000 miles on it before I could export into Canada.
Dealer in Montana would not sell me a new one. I can't recall if it was Nissan specific or a Customs law.

could be nissan. they may want to save their business in canada just like toyota, honda, etc...
I know it's possible because my friend bought a brand new Subaru last year. It's just the dealers don't sell to canadians. If you have someone you trust in US, you can get them to buy it for you and then transfer to your name so yes, basically "Used"

You could be right.

buy online thru US save maybe 8 g depending on negotiating skills. ship by transport to border pay taxes there. And yes before anyone blows smoke up you know where about warranty etc, I have done it. Purchased 2011 370Z touring coupe AT loaded april 2011 South Carolina. Warranty is only void if you flip the vehicle within 6 months of purchase. Good luck

Buying from the US isn't that cheap anymore. I tell people to add 30% on top of the cost for a US car and that's how much its going to cost you landed in Canada. Provinces with higher taxes will cost more. So for you 45K Nismo, its going to cost you approximately $58500.

This is 100% accurate. I even found a US dealer that would sell the new car to me. After factoring in the exchange, duty, some insurance to drive it over, import fees and state tax (in order to get warranty) the 2013 Nismo was coming up over 60k CDN. I then found out that we were getting the Nismo here, so I exchanged all the money back to CDN funds and am patiently waiting.

Warranty

Hey, just to clear up earlier posts and buying down south voiding warranty i am hear to tell you this is not the case one last time. As a matter of fact the 2011 370 sport touring coupe AT LOADED Z (43,000 $ total including taxes) i bought new in 2011 and drove back from south carolina for 10,000 $$$ less the Canadian (sticker price at the time) is still under warranty certain jobs. Powertrain 60 months or 60000 miles whatever is first and lists the coverage and components that apply on section 6 of your new vehicle limited warranty book. I live in calgary like one of the members that said there was 0 warranty coverage. Brasso Nissan just did Warranty work on universal joint, cost 0 $. Complete reprogram of ecm 0 $. Applied moly kote to cv axle hub area 0 $. All Done TODAY AUGUST 26th 2014. 2 years ago issue with door lock fixed under warranty and some smaller stuff. ( any money bets, paper work is in front of me ). lot of dealers probably troll and part of the job i guess. Synopsis buy new from States : Yes did it. Warranty for vehicle from the states that is new and needs repairs in Canada: Yes did it. So I have to call BS. go buy new nissan guys , save money and have fun. Very easy to do. FYI this is just a general post for all intrested

That's cheap. The 2014 sport/touring MSRP was about that.

S1L3NoZ 09-17-2014 10:50 PM

Calling dealers tomorrow after work. Hope my VPP is illigible for that car :D

S1L3NoZ 09-19-2014 05:22 PM

So, the car is ordered and it is illigible for VPP. Will receive the car in October. WOOT!

cooltoy 09-19-2014 09:09 PM

You'll get it just in time for Christmas. I would have waited to time the delivery for mid spring.

cooltoy 09-19-2014 09:19 PM

Oh, ya, sorry. Congratulations as well. I know how exited I was to place the order.

New GM Nismo spotted at Greg Vann Nissan in Cambridge, Ontario

A dealership I go out of my way TO AVOID! :roflpuke2:

( Click to show/hide )
I should note they did not get my business when I purchased my 40th Anniversary brand new. They wouldn't give me the time of day because I was only a 23 year old that looked like a 23 year old. But guess what what f*ckers you missed the sale and also will miss out on all of my future Nissan purchases + services! I purposely avoid them!

When I was looking for a used one I went to a Nissan dealership and the guy pulled a lot of pressure tactics. Even went as far as saying 'we're taking the car to an auction this wednesday and expect to get close to the sticker price. If you don't put a deposit we can't gaurantee the car will be here' Long story short, I got a newer version with half the mileage at cheaper than what it was listed for (both were about the same price). Needless to say, it sat on their lot for about a month before it left.

that front fascia though... I want it lol

South London Nissan is pretty brutal too. They tried adding a "Market Value" adjustment which was 2k added to the MSRP.

Brutal... doesn't seem like Nissan likes the young crowd =(

LMBmikeZ 09-22-2014 09:57 PM

I could only imagine how they would treat me if I went in asking for a GTR :roflpuke2:

It'd go something like this...

'Hi I'm looking for a nismo GTR:hello:'

':gtfo2:'

'I want to place a large downpayment'

'u lie, go home kid :gtfo2:'

'ok... :wtf2:'

LMBmikeZ 09-23-2014 11:35 AM

that is pretty much how my 370 transaction went down. :shakes head:

they then told me they could only do a lease for the 40th I was trying to buy.

Tick64 09-28-2014 05:40 PM

I had a similar experience many moons ago when purchasing my Z. I went to a dealership in Vancouver that had a metallic grey Nismo. They wouldn't give me the time of day (I was wearing a tank top and flip flops). I asked how much winter tires would be and the sales guy said "a lot". I said I was interested in purchasing it, and the guy asked "Do you live in Vancouver?". I said "No, Nanaimo". So he told me to go deal with the Nissan in Nanaimo (they didn't have a Nismo). So, long story short I ordered one from Nanaimo... but got it transferred from Calgary (black one) not Vancouver lol.

cooltoy 09-28-2014 11:23 PM

Which dealership in Calgary?

Tick64 09-29-2014 03:16 PM

Oh man, I can't remember. It was back in Sept/2011. I think they said that it had sat on the lot since April/2011 -ish??? Do you remember seeing it over there?

Tick64 09-29-2014 09:20 PM

^^ Omg, I can't believe I wrote that. Calgary's a pretty big place eh? lol ~ Do you know my cousin Bob in Calgary? :icon17:

LMBmikeZ 09-30-2014 04:44 AM

hey I know Bob from Calgary

:roflpuke2:

Nismo in Canada

Picked mine up a week ago from dealer in St Catharines - they are trying to get another. There was also another white one at the dealer in Waterloo.

Tree70 10-04-2014 08:54 AM

Picked mine up as well from Brampton North Nissan.
Nes took good care of me, kept me updated and delivered.

Collins Nissan in St Catharines have 2 in stock - 1 Pearl White and 1 Grey - both manual transmission.

Vancouver Nismo

Downtown Nissan has a new PW Nismo in their showroom.
I'm not sure how long they've had it, but I looked at it today.

Tree70 10-13-2014 11:22 AM

DT Nissan has had a few. They picked up one while I was at the CN compound picking up mine. At the time they said they already delivered one.

Bhaukei 10-16-2014 01:54 PM

I saw it at Village Nissan in Markham... i don't like it.... just don't like it .... rims, racing seats.... lip on the fender... bumper... everthing.. just ugly

Zipper 104 10-16-2014 04:24 PM

They seem just a bit too 'busy' for me. I could live with the interior, but I dislike the wheels, don't care for all the red trim. I like my PW Sport. Understated, not overblown.
Anyone else's opinion may vary, and I have no problem with that.
