Insurance Premiums in Ontario
Hopefully it won't crush my dreams of owning a 370Z but I was wondering if anyone could provide ballpark figures of how much you're paying to insure a 370Z in Ontario.

im 40 with clean record, insurance premium only went up about $80/year from previous car, |
factor in the fact Ontario is pretty hefty at charging premiums
more than double of Quebec, street racing FTL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Mine was just under $1200 for the year including replacement cost, $300 deductable, etc.... I thought it would be way more...

Are you in bed with the Government Minister who's in charge of insurance in B.C.? That's ridiculouly low. (and tough to swallow) |

$500 deductible for collision, $300 for comprehensive ($200 for "missile" damage to glass). |
Funny thing is my 280ZX use to be around the same price and it was like 15 years old at the time.... I was younger though....

I think I will be paying close to $2k for insurance in Vancouver (that is with the full discount) ... I am not sure exactly, I will cross that bridge when I get the car next week.
My 2002 Civic is still considered a 'sports car' by ICBC .... don't know why I still pay a higher premium that car .... the stigma of civic ownership? |

Probably due to all the riced out Civics and the rate they are stolen at.... oh and my insurance is at the full 43% discount.... |
Insurance is pure rape in Ontario..
But I was paying $1200 for my z's. Full coverage, $300 deductable, with state farm. When I called my agent about the 370z.. he said it would not change. Hell, I got quoted the same for a CaymanS.. Ninja Edit: Sry, should have mentioned that I have a multi car discount, including home & life insurance with State Farm. |
It use to be Private insurance was way cheaper now ICBC is competative. You always had to have your Comprehensive or whatever with ICBC but the extra stuff you could get with a private company.....

In Halifax, I pay $975/yr. That's full coverage: $1M PL/PD, Comp w/$500 ded and collision w/$1K ded (I think). I'm over 50 and have a home and some other toys under the same policy.

1K deductable - ouch.
|
But you only pay the $1K ded if you fak up :driving: :tiphat:

I can't help but smile when I see all you guys complain about the rates. You don't know how blessed you are.
I am living in Aruba (an Island of the dutch antilles, of the coast of south america) and I had to pay 50% import duties on my car, including freight charges etc. That makes the landed cost of my car here US 53,000 The insurance is based on this landed cost value. My insurance premium here is US 5.500 a year, but I must say, it is what they call "full value" for three years. So if my wife (who drives it) wrecks it during the first three years, I get the full value (53K) returned. Still, it's a lot of money to pay for insurance. So again, you guys are so lucky |
