Today? It didn't reach 180 even after 45min drive. it was sitting below it. If I remember correctly, around 30min in, it hit 140. All this time I did not pass 3k rpm

You have an oil cooler, right?

LMBmikeZ 01-02-2014 11:29 PM

you bet he does!

mandatory for FI setups

LMBmikeZ 01-02-2014 11:45 PM

Now my underside is a little dirty/dusty because when I put it the garage I still had a gravel driveway at my new house. Car is clean on drove it once or twice after last wash but that driveway sucked :shakes head: But it is now paved for last 5 weeks and I will be taking out to wash on a sunny +freezing day ASAP :ugh2:

Anyway as promised here are the pics for you buddy

Nice, that looks really good:tup: thanks for the photos

LMBmikeZ 01-03-2014 12:07 AM

NP  like I said dusty needs a good spray off on the underside. I am disappointed I haven't been able to get to my detailing yet for the winter I have been stalling :ugh2: really just busy with a new born

If you get the Canadian boosted performance package, it comes with oil cooler kit. You need it to keep the oil cool, lol...

Fast Intentions just released an oil cooler kit. I would seriously look into that one assuming your FI kit doesn't come with one. Z1 offers oil cooler kits, you can also source to the parts and materials to build your own. Lots of options.

Everyone will have a different opinion but I would recommend one of the ones Z1 motorsports offers they are setrab cores (so the good ones ) they have 19 row, 25 row and 34 row. Size wise depends on how hard you are on your car and what you use it for :ugh2:

As for why you need it here is a link for you to read

http://www.the370z.com/forced-induct...ion-noobs.html

Basically to sum it up the cooler your fluids are the better :tiphat:

180?!? Am i missing something??!?
U talking °C or °F??
Mine never hits that temp, not even in summer.....
The last drive before i parked it for the winter, the temp said +2°C outside. After 30 min of driving mine finally hit 30°C.......mine normal temp is 90°C.
Now I'll need to check, but im sure Canadian temps are all in °C right??
Your 40th Canadian or American model?

MrSir 01-03-2014 02:09 PM

he was talking about 180F, he has an american model. Ye for me in this weather with the oil cooler the car never gets to proper operating range. And i have the Z1 19row oil cooler too. Back in October it was like -5 C out and i drove to Ottawa. That only manage to get it to about 150F. For the short drives here in the city it never reaches 140F, unless i sit in one spot reving the car for an hour.

Yup, American Z and I'm glad it doesn't have the navigation
MrSir, could you add a thermostatic plate? I've seen some on this forum cover up their oil cooler too.

thermo plates are a good option especially in the colder climates

the cover is also to help in the colder weather to help stop the oil from being to cold :ugh2:

GaleForce 01-03-2014 07:11 PM

I have been thinking of fabricating motorized louvers for the front of my oil cooler. That way I can close it at any time to get oil temps up, and open it when things start to get warm. I would also be able to stop any where between fully open and fully closed.

That sounds awesome! I wonder if you have enough space for that

very good idea! very do able to

just make a custom little louver rig to put around the cooler

might take a bit of searching to find the right motor to do it though :ugh2:

I am interested if you are able to come up with something I would also consider making one :tiphat:

Why wouldn't u want navigation??? Its not only a nav system. it controls many other things all in a touch screen..... I couldn't imagine not having the NAV system.

I love my "touchscreen" but the factory navi is crummy. I use the google maps on my phone for navi and just play movies on the touchscreen.

I have the motor figured out. I just need to decide what materials I want to make it to of. I'm thinking CF or Fiberglass louvers with an aluminum frame.

LMBmikeZ 01-05-2014 03:09 PM

not bad but a good beater around the same price is either a pathfinder or 4runner very solid SUVs and will give you the versatility you will never get out of another "small/low" vehicle

IMO I would get something heavier and with more ground clearance :ugh2:

Used Nissan Pathfinder

4runner is a little harder to find and they tend to cost a little more for the good ones :ugh2:

alcheng 01-05-2014 03:26 PM

a Tiburon as a winter beater...?? :wtf2:

Is it that bad? It's fwd, that's an improvement over our Z for sure. I can also rice it up and use the dryer vent suggested earlier

flaelin 01-05-2014 04:20 PM

Careful with those dryer vents, birds and squirrels are attracted to them..... Well at least my dryer vents are extremely appealing to them ;)
