Bring the Z out?

Like every year at this time I am sooo tempted to bring the Z out sooner then expected. I was first planning for April ~10th but the weather has been so nice, 80% of the snow is gone but still the roads need to be cleaned lots of gravel on the shoulders and center lanes. I may have to move up my time to early March.

Anyone else planning a early return?

March I'll start driving it more...but St. Louis weather here changes all the time :(

March 18th, that's when the lease is up on my DD. Hoping for an early spring.

I put a couple of hundred miles on it in Feb so far on a nice snow free Saturday couple weeks ago. Some salt and sand but had to do it. Garage queen for a couple more weeks it looks like though.

Summer tires are allowed only as of March 16th but I plan on taking the G out on March 1st if the roads are dry and not all watery. It's stored an hour away from me.

Is that actually a law for you guys? ^

I'm in Kamloops, and the RCMP told me if you're running summers before mid April, you must carry chains if leaving city limits, otherwise they'll ticket you.
Seems kind of a **** move with this amazing weather, but I guess they've got to keep their quota.
I throw a set in the back, although with my drop, there's no way I'd ever get those suckers on.

Wow, never heard anything like that.. repd

Yup it is. It's actually a good law because everyone has winters and it's much safer for the drivers and people around them. It goes from Dec 15 to Mar 15. I opted to just store my car.

Bring it out, what's the worst that can happen?

A remote starter and a good old' wooden cleaning stick will take care of that.

I drove right through the winter on the stock tires as long as it was above 7C.
Probably off the road a total of 1 month so I sent my calipers to Mike for powdercoating to pass the time.
I don't believe the chain law applies in Metro Vancouver?

Took my Z out last week :) As long as there's no ice and temp was constantly above freezing it's good enough for me. It's only been 3 months or so but I miss my Z lol, summer tires are gripping pretty well now too

Mannysrt8 02-18-2013 10:21 AM

I have mine on the road, got a mini after winter detail done yesterday, looks new again

Well I'm in Kelowna and not sure if its a myth or fact since only living here since 2007 but the story goes like this...

We live in the city but you have to travel hwy 33 even though 33 runs though major part of town legally it's a hwy so all BC road laws apply so winter tires till April. Since we live up the mountain and very out skirts of town there is a good amount of time on 33 so the myth is they have had traps set just to catch people on the tire law even though street sweepers are going by.

I never seen it happen so I have a hard time believing this, not like its going to stop me but expect a rant here if I get ticket this year
