Fuel Consumption!

Hi everyone,

Just wondering what is the average fuel consumption you get in your 370z?

I have a 2010 7 Speed Auto Roadster.... and basically if I look at my fuel economy it is always around the 14 L/100 km. So I pump almost 65 Liters of gas to fill up and I am lucky to get 450 km out of it.

Most my driving is city - so is this considered normal?

One time I did mostly highway driving and I was able to keep it around 10 L / 100km.

But I dont even drive it too hard.... if I do some highway driving I can get an extra 100 km out of it max.... but just want to see what you all are getting out of your Z.

Also if you add an exhaust or intake - will that increase fuel economy or make it worse?

Thanks.

B

The only time I pay attention to the fuel in my Z, is just before I need to fill up again. I know I use more gas in the Z than I do in our other cars. I can also tell you that I will use more fuel after I install the turbo.

I to have a 2010 auto roadster, 99% city driving getting about 450-500km max out of a tank of gas. Only current mod is a Stillen G3 CAI.

I didn't see much of a difference in mileage with or without the CAI.

This Ugly American has no idea what all that metric crap means. :) Here in the US of A, I get 18-21 MPG in town (23-ish if I drive like I have some sense) and 27-29 highway.

I get bad gas mileage. I love my car. Gotta pay to play.

IDZRVIT 01-03-2013 09:34 AM

I've had as high as 830 km on a tank doing all highway driving at 90-100 kph.

LMAO. Agreed. With mixed hwy and city at or near the speed limit my 7at roadster runs 22-27. I don't think that's too bad for a performance car.

TheGreatOne 01-03-2013 12:32 PM

I stopped looking but honestly, last time I think the average was 14-15L, most city driving. I have a few mods and I am heavy on the gas most times.

For sure if you do a lot of highway you'll see it much better, but I wouldn't concern myself too much with that when driving a Z lol.

Some say an intake actually helps fuel economy but I truly forget.

dP3NGU1N 01-03-2013 01:09 PM

averaging 21.6mpg over 2300mi of driving mixed local and highway. This is just information I pulled from the car's hud. The car itself only has 2300mi on it so I suppose it might change in the future. I think I remember people saying that mpg goes up after the first oil change/break in period?

RandyD 01-03-2013 01:55 PM

my average is 21.6 mpg for 27000 hard driving miles...

'i drive it like a pissed off teenager' :)

Tickwomp 01-03-2013 04:00 PM

I average 20 mpg using the car as a daily driver on a 58 mile round trip, most tollway. The 4.08:1 gears hurts a bit but it's mainly a right foot problem.

N0SL3N 01-04-2013 07:20 PM

I'm pretty sure I get about 13.5 L/100 km with a mix of city and highway and no concern for the environment... lol

SmallermouseZ 01-05-2013 02:38 AM

that sounds about right. it usually depends on how you drive.

.c2 01-05-2013 08:56 PM

Even with a lot of spirited driving the worst I'll be getting is 11.9L/100km. Mostly city but also a fair amount of hwy driving. When I first got the Z I tried to save gas as much as possible (but still have a lot of times when I'm heavy on gas..) and I avg'd 10.7L/100km. On almost all hwy I was still at around 10L/100km. 6MT, but I'm not often stuck in traffic so that might be a factor.. Pretty much all stock except for a CBE and minor suspension bits if that makes a difference at all. I find that it doesn't fluctuate enough for me to care about the way I drive so I never drive gas consciously anymore, so I'm usually at around 11.0L/100km ish. I've been shifting at 2k-2.5k for normal cruising speeds because it's loud at any rpm after that lol

KanataZ 01-06-2013 05:20 PM

The navi fuel monitor generally shows 12.5l/100kms and that's mostly light city and backroad driving (three seasons only). The Transport Canada fuel consumption numbers are pure fiction IMO.

Manual Tranmission - City L/100 km (mpg) 11.8 (24)
Manual Tranmission - Hwy L/100 km (mpg) 7.9 (36)
Automatic transmission - City L/100 km (mpg) 11.5 (25)
Automatic transmission - Hwy L/100 km (mpg) 7.8 (36)

PS. for those south of the border quoting miles per gallon, note that our gallon is bigger than yours so even non metric needs to be converted for this discussion

if you dyno tune the car after you get the intake maybe. For me with all stock components the best i have done is 9.3L/100km and that was on a drive from Toronto to Quebec City, So all highway pretty much. other than that stock i was able to get it at around 10.3-10.4L/100km. NOw that i have HFC, CBE, and CAIs its a different story. The CAIs made the biggest dent in the fuel consumption, i have the AEM ones and they do some black magic with the MAFs so my fuel consumption with 70-30 HWY-City is about 11.7L/100km. All city hits close to 15L/100km

Bking 01-07-2013 11:55 PM

My average in the city is around 11.6L/100km. Lowest was < 8L/100km when I reset the fuel economy thing while driving on #1 highway. I have a CBE and that's it.

Miki 01-08-2013 08:15 AM

I get about 560km to my tank close to 600. I've been known to baby my car though so im a little bit of an exception lol

Amuse370z 07-10-2013 03:15 AM

My gauges show 15.8l/100 km. This is 90% city driving. Is this normal?

I'm still breaking the car in (500km so far) and don't go above 4k (went over maybe 5 times total).

Also, I had 3 dots left and went about 480km before I decided to fill her up myself for the first time. How many kms do you guys get per tank? Do you guys fill her up when its flashing or...?

122554 07-10-2013 04:08 AM

I never checked and I really don't care! I went from 8 to 12 in the H2 after I put a Duramax in it :)

ShehK 07-11-2013 10:41 AM

I'm getting around 650kms per tank. I'd say maybe 250-300kms are hwy.
I do occasionally rip it but drive like a granny the rest of the time. For regular city driving I think I normally drive at 2k rpm and end up shifting at 3-3.5k most of the time.

zefaulter 07-11-2013 02:47 PM

I have done this a couple of times with 650km/tank. I'm surprised I haven't faced the fuel starving issue:tup:

I get approximately the same 600-650km/tank I can drive heavy at times and like to launch from all stops (controlled acceleration to the speed limit is perfectly legal :ugh2:)

I always use the same 91 octane ethanol free V power from either one of the same 2 shell stations + regular oil changes every 5-7000km or some where in between. I do it every 8-9 weeks which in total is 3 times over the course of the Z driving season

zefaulter 07-11-2013 07:10 PM

You gas up every 8 weeks? Or change oil?

fuelly .com

basically track all fuel ups...
