1.5 Hours to install, works great for any of you other Canadian 40th Anni owners.

Rear Camera Kit - Car Kit Company

Just ordered one myself last week. Thinking about getting a front camera as well for pulling into parking stalls.

Plug and play, the reason it took me 1.5 hours is I've had the back of car pulled apart for dynamating,so there was no guess work.

99% is routing the wires , the Head Unit hook up is 5 minutes tops including pulling the panels.

You don't need to remove the shifter, just pop the trim off console, the Headunit surround also stays in place no need to remove the wiring for switches.

Just need 4 inches of space to pop out the screen an get at back to plug and play.

I dropped the camera wires down thru the License plate light.

His PDF instructions make it a snap, dont worry if the items in box dont match pictures, he is constantly improving his harness.

Just make sure you do this before ordering.

With Radio off
Press and hold the “Settings” button and turn the volume control counter clockwise.
After about 40 clicks a menu will appear
Select “confirmation/adjustment”
Next move down to “Camera” and select
Then select “Camera Syst Type” and change from “No Camera” to “With Rear view Camera”
Come all the way out of the menus using the back button and the system will reboot
Now when you put the car in reverse, if a blue screen appears with “Please check your surroundings” message your car is compatible

Nice, thanks for the link

Of course, it's not just for 40th's. I installed the same kit in my 2010 6MT and it was easy. I say easy, and that's coming from a guy with ZERO mechanical ability. The instructions were perfect. Took me about 3 hours - there is a lot panel removing to do, but again, it's easy.

I'm ordering the bypass kit as soon as it's in stock again.

As long as its easy I'll try it myself...I'm good with engine stuff, not with wiring and electrical

Does this bypass allow you to watch video on the Nav will in drive?

Sure does, along with full access to all the menu items. You can also turn the camera on while driving.

Curious what taxes, duty and shipping costs were incurred by any of you guys who had the kit shipped to Canada. Anyone?

Taxes - Standard HST for us Ontario folks
Duty - None - although technically there should have been duty on the camera because it was manufactured in Japan. But the package was marked as made in the US so it was duty free.
Shipping - Don't remember, but it was cheap.

Make sure it gets sent USPS. Canada post has a flat fee of $5 for a brokerage fee. A courier will charge you $40 plus for a package like this.

Thanks for the info Dizzy.

I never order anything that is shipped via courier for exactly the reason you stated; only made that mistake once many years ago. I won't start a FedEx/UPS rant but their cross border molestation approaches a criminal act. :icon23:

Shipping and handling $39.85 USD
Insurance $0.00 USD
Total $328.85 USD
Payment $328.85 USD
Charge will appear on your credit card statement as "PAYPAL *CARKITCOMP"

From amount $334.23 CAD
To amount $328.85 USD
Exchange rate: 1 Canadian Dollar = 0.983903 U.S. Dollars

There was $27 Customs fee I paid to UPS at my door.

Was About a week coming to BC.

Still totally worth it not having to replace headunit, the box he ship it to me in was the Kenwood camera box that comes with the system, think the camera was $148 US.

So I'm guessing his harness an labor is worth $100 to Brian.Which is fair considering he developed the harness strictly for our model.

Talked to my Nissan Service guy,is said thats a steal just the replacement camera for a 2011 370z an up is $1200.

$361 is worth every penny to me for the easy which it went in and how it works.

Makes me Happy I didn't wait till 2011 for a 370z with a camera option!
