Tracks in The GTA area

I see that Mosport and Cayuga have tracks for lap times.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these?

I have a roadster and am wondering what the safety requirements are ... are the stock roll bars acceptable? Any particular spec on the helmet (or could I use a motorcycle helmet?)A

Any advice appreciated

i dont think you need to have a roll cage to be allowed on the track on track days. THe only requirement is the helmet. I doubt they are very specific on that too. Usually on the event pages where they have the details for signing up they say whats required. usually its be there at some ungodly early time like 6 am for a meeting, and have a helmet.

Im thinking of getting in to time attack racing next year.

Ontario Time Attack - Home Page | Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs - Ontario Region

There is a guy on this forum already doing it with his Z here in Ontario. His name is Martin Crisp, I cant remember his user name. I know him from the RC racing days long ago.

On the website it tells you about classifications of cars, better off without a roll cage and staying in the stock class unless you want to start dropping crazy money into racing and compete against modified classes.

Hi Guys

Yeah I did some time attack this year and had some good fun. The Ontario Time Attack series is well run and competitive. Happy to offer any help I can.

also look for CSCS.ca ,, they run a smaller number of Time attack during the year and also more flexible on modification rules than OTA.

my Z was a bit too much modified to allow me to participe competitively.
and I didnt want to remove a few needed one to run in the lower class ...
I wasnt able to qualify my Z to be classed with a dyno sheet & weight.

as for going to a track with a roadster , some event allow you to go and some dont .
I know Touge.ca are doing a bunch of lapping event in 2012. they were quite nice when I first started with my 350z roadster back in 2008.

A belated thanks to everyone. I went out to Torontomotorsports in Sepetmber. Had a blast. Managed to do a 1mn 29 secs. Maybe 10 cars came and went during the day so got out on the track as much as I wanted.

No idiots, a fair number of people new to the track.

Was surprised how laid back they were - didn't inspect my car for safety, virtually no instruction - just the passing rules, were firm on having a helmet given I've got a roadster.

I changed over the brake fluid to racing fluid before going, otherwise everything including pads and tires were stock. Tires saw a lot of wear. Worked out okay.

Wahooo! Will go again next year. Maybe we should geta few of us going on the same day.
