Mitch - how did you do on the Dyno?

instroke 06-08-2014 12:23 AM

:shakes head:Thumbs up today Mark! for hosting this event! Great job - and it was good to see everyone today and their rides - it's nice that the 370z platform has so many exterior options - and you can truely make it your own.

Coming from the Genesis platform the 370Z is refreshing - and I am gonna luv modding my ride. I wanted to stick around and see Mitch kill that dyno and see the Tank demolishing the caravan - but wanted to beat the storm clouds home, but found myself driving thru it anyways on the drive home. :shakes head:

a couple of the guys from Genesis club - asked why a 370? - I said - look at these 370's... and if you drove one - you'd understand. + knowing that James/Mitch are trapping 120's helps too. :tiphat:

body/paint shops?

Anyone know any decent Body/paint shops on the northside or westend?

edconline 06-10-2014 11:55 PM

Ask Mark. He just had his done, but I can't remember if it was north side.

wheee! 06-11-2014 07:21 AM

Depends on what you're having done. I went to Eastwood. Pm me for more details.

Lol. Well when it started raining the lady with the dyno said that they were done for the day, so I took off. Turns out she lied and they finished the cars.

O-well. I wasn't to happy with their organization skills, you think having a mobile dyno they would have had a tried and true game plan. I guess not.

Crappy - yeah I agree it seemed disorganized. I would have liked to jump on that dyno too - but nervous giving my keys to someone else. lol

Was looking for a body shop - just to paint a front lip. But I think I found a place.

Rec'd something from Kami-speed - a half shipment lol. Here is the pic...now I won't feel so out of place - since I won't be stock anymore... lol Still long way to go...

Make sure you transfer the plastic coil inserts from the stock springs onto your swifts. It stops the coils from squeaking.

I don't have this issue even though that part wasn't transfered.

instroke 06-12-2014 08:28 PM

Not enough "rocking" goes on in your car then.

LOL - Awesome that you are here! ... Rad has quite some history with fast cars!!! He went from one of the nicest 93 RX7's to 800hp 3rd Gen Supra - and his winter car was a WRX STI - LOL - now he's got the 370Z!!!!

I went 94 RX7 - Civic SI - huh? - Genesis 3.8 w/turbo - borderline huh? (for sale btw) - and now 370Z - Too funny - We meet again!!! :eekdance:

Sasha - we could use some help here though... :stirthepot:

wheee! 06-13-2014 07:20 AM

I believe Rad has already ordered the Boosted kit...

As for the springs, your rear camber will be about -2.8 until you get camber arms and toes bolts to adjust it. Don't try and do the camber without the toe bolts, there is not enough range in the stock bolt or in the size of the stock elongated hole. You will need to enlarge the toe bolt hole.

Jack, you got everything right except I had the MKIV supra. Not what Foo had. He had the 3rd gen.

Also, how is the Genesis 3.8 Turbo? What kind of power is it making? I was considering one of those cars as well but something just didn't feel right.

I haven't ordered a kit yet. I will definitely be ordering Sasha's kit in the fall. That way, in the spring, get it installed and have it ready for the tuning session.

That's why the springs don't squeak. My wouldn't either.

cooltoy 06-16-2014 03:27 PM

Anybody hear any information on Vex Performance shop in Calgary? I am looking for a place to install my FI exhaust. And I can not do it myself due to health issues.

Or should I take it to Nissan (I am not sure they would have much experience installing after market exhausts).

joel mac 06-17-2014 09:46 AM

Not sure by what you mean by "How do you go about getting on the track?" Mitch.

I'm not sure where the track entrance is for the road course this will be my first time at Castrol

Here are all the dates Track Junkies > Events - MotorsportReg.com I filled out all the info about the car and my skill level. If its your first time on the track or first time in a different car they will probably ask that you get an instructor.

Its self tech all i had to do to prep my car was replace my brake fluid :) and put on some new pads for the track.

Yeah I am going to try and get on there this year, I need to do my brakes before I trust it on the track however.

I put on some Carbotech XP10's I'll let you know how they are.

instroke 06-18-2014 05:20 PM

530 omg Holly crap ... I thnk I would crap myself with that HP ... how bout 1/4 mile #?

instroke 06-18-2014 09:25 PM

K got my H&R spacers and SPC camber/toe kit - install is tomorrow. These spacers are suppose to be lightweight... huh? I better check if I got the right ones... lol.

edconline 06-19-2014 02:58 AM

Lol Joel Mac, I'll tell you how the XP10's are - LOUD. And dusty. Oh, and did I mention LOUD?

haha They weren't that loud for me at all but they were up to temperature for sure. They felt great on the track though! super dusty but it was super easy to clean off after unlike the dust from the hawk hp+ pads I had on other cars.

Never had a problem coming into the front straight. If i didn't mess up the chicane section, which i almost did all the time hahaha I probably could have almost topped out 4th. Even with messing it up i could get up to about 6000rpm in 4th.

Even with 20 min lapping sessions and lots of hard braking i never got any fade from them either :D. The boosted guys should be able to get into 5th in the front straight if brave enough. might even want a bit more pad as well maybe the xp20's

JMac who has the same kit I believe was 12.2. Best I could get out of her was a 13 even. James has a bit more stout of a tune and weighs a bit less than me.

What pads are you using on the back? Tires?
Also do you notice that with any serious application of them, you trigger ABS?

carbotech didn't' have any rears in stock to get me any in time so I just had new stockers. I am gonna get some for the rear for the next track day as well. Tires are RE11's 285 all around the car rotated awesome turn in was very quick.

This is numbered backwards for some reason, but the only corner that i ever even got close to getting some ABS I think it kicked on twice it was from turn 8 to turn 7 you had to go hard on the brakes to make the reducing radius turn to be lined up right for #6. At the start It never came on but once i got a good handle on that section 10-9-8 I could get into 4th on that straight If i was really on it. Other than that ABS never came on any where else. It would be nice to have Jmac's traction control set up and trail brake even with VDC off just cuts all power :(

edconline 06-19-2014 03:16 PM

Interesting. I was running XP 10/8 and I would get ABS kicking in all the time on hard braking, it was actually significantly increasing my stopping distance. The tires still had grip for days, and the brakes were fairly warm. Now I'm running XP 8/8 and it's not as noticeable but still happens. I'm wondering if it's that ice mode problem, or perhaps too much rear grip is throwing the system off?

Mitco39 06-19-2014 04:16 PM

The Racelogic does work very well. I actually find it does such a good job that instead of spinning and drifting through the corners the back end actually starts to slide sideways from the G's and not from spinning. This sort of breaking the rear end makes it much easier to control than say if you were to slip out the rear end from wheel slippage.

Its an awesome unit.

Hey Mitch - sorry for the late reply - kinda surprized with an even 13, but if you don't mind what are u trapping at? I can only imagine over 115 and what are your 60ft times?

Swift springs installed - with SPC camber kit - and H&R spacers 15/20 - was afraid it looked like a dragster - when it was jack stands -but then when we removed the jack stands everything settled just fine. And the ride is fantastic, the swift springs are amazing - so many reviews about them - and I am a believer!!! Thxs to Mark/Joel for the recommendations!

next step - I got the CS spec ME - lip being painting and hope to be installed later this week, but might have regrets cause its FRP and it might scrape against everything.
