Are they available or no ?

Hey guys, this is my first post on this forum. I own a mazda rx8 at the moment but looking to get a 370z nismo in the summer. Ive been searching a bit and i found out that the 370z nismo isnt an available option here in canada. I also heard rumours they will start selling nismos in canada in 2012. So whats the truth ?? or am i going to have to import one from the states ??

Sorry for the long first post. I look forward to joining the Z community soon.

thanks

younter 12-20-2011 09:01 PM

I have seen coupe of Nismo that some dealer may carry. At this time, I guess there is none. Some of them were imported from states. They might be avaliable for the used one. If not, I guess is not the time of season

nizmo370 12-20-2011 09:37 PM

thanks for the info. This brings up another issue. If they were imported from the states ... wouldnt their gauges be MPH instead of KPH. Im assuming you would have to get a canadian gauge cluster from Nissan and then replace it ..??

they are available in canada. before i bought my 370z sports package i test drove a the nismo version :driving:brand new canada version (meaning Km not Miles on the dash) just go to a dealer and say you wanna buy a nismo, if they dont have one in stock they'll just order one for you, but yeah, they are definitely here. :happydance:

djpathfinder 12-21-2011 01:27 AM

Nismos were made available in Canada for the first time for the 2011 model year.

nizmo370 12-21-2011 10:24 AM

awesome thanks so much guys !!!

nogoodname 12-21-2011 06:42 PM

I've seen like 3 over here lol.

nizmo370 12-21-2011 07:24 PM

I guess theyre still rare. I havent seen ONE nismo 370z on the road yet. To be honest i dont see alot of 370zs on the road period. I have seen a PW a few weeks ago and thats the only one ive ever seen.

Any PW nismos in toronto ???

TheGreatOne 12-22-2011 09:52 AM

Yup Definteily rare. I've seen a black one and a white one in Montreal.

I'm pretty sure they weren't available at deals here and they may have shipped them in from out West, I could be wrong. But you can get one if you do the work it appears...worth it for the rareness!

nizmo370 12-22-2011 12:10 PM

haha yea. Im obsessed with the nismo. Always day dreaming about it. Thats the first thing i think of when i freakin wake up and it brings a smile to my face. THats the way i was about my rx8 lol. Im really looking forward to getting one.

Im kinda worried the z will be a let down over the 8, which is a fun car to drive. We'll see.

nizmo370 12-22-2011 01:43 PM

LMBmikeZ 12-22-2011 06:47 PM

You won't be let down IMO. I have been in a friends base rx8 as was not impressed with the interior or the drive. Z ftw!

N0SL3N 12-22-2011 08:47 PM

Avenue Rd Nissan has a NISMO in the showroom. List price 46 and change

nizmo370 12-23-2011 10:56 AM

thanks guys... im thinking about waiting a little longer and going for a 2012 nismo with a factory oil cooler. Im still researching about the car whether its worth it to wait or just get an aftermarket oil cooler.

Why don't you just order a brand new from the dealer, it's Dec right now and you can't/won't drive the NISMO in winter anyway, right? So why would you need one now?

Place a brand new order from the dealer, by the time it arrives it's about March/April, and you can drive it right away.

Why bother to get one in winter???

Better Price???

;)

nizmo370 12-24-2011 08:06 AM

Well the plan was to get a slightly used for a good deal lol. Im not getting the car until earliest next summer anyway... like you said i wont be able to drive it in winter lol. im trying to decide if its worth going for a 2012 with factory oil cooler or get a 2010.

Snakes709 12-24-2011 09:36 AM

do u plan on tracking the car? if not you wont need a oil cooler. I got stuck in traffic for a hour or two (damn edmonton accidents) and it was 35*C and the oil temps were fine. But on the track was a different story.

nizmo370 12-24-2011 08:16 PM

Im planning to hit the track maybe once a year. If anything i can always buy an aftermarket one and install it.. no biggy lol.

alexhjs 12-25-2011 02:45 AM

I am also in a search for a NISMO as well. I have visited some nissan dealerships and they have advised me the NISMO is no longer available starting 2012, which means I am now looking for slightly used 2011 ones..

New to the forum too. :) hoping to contribute more to the community here as I am relatively new to the world of 370Zs. haha. :)

nizmo370 12-25-2011 09:16 AM

^ NOOOOOOO !!! are you serious :( ... Man its gonna be tough finding a used 2010 or 2011 PW.

Actually, there's no used 2010 nismo, because they were first available for 2011 in Canada :)

LMBmikeZ 12-25-2011 12:56 PM

Looks like more guys will be bringing up more American models.

nizmo370 12-25-2011 01:28 PM

^ Thats another option ... but im not too sure its worth the trouble importing. Ive done TONS of research about importing cars cause i wanted to import my rx8 (because of various reason) but i was lucky enough to find an american one in canada.

I guess im going to have to buy a used 2011 or 2012 or import one from the states which will be the last resort.

In case you found a NISMO, and going to track it, make sure you mod the brake first.

I have heard many similar issues of oil cooling and brakes previously.. can you share some experiences in these fields in terms of at the tracks?

I don't plan to track the car immediately right away.. but I would like to know in particulars any concerning things you may have had in the past with your experiences from tracking your Z..

care to share? haha.

There are some MINT 2011 NISMOs available outside ONTARIO.. but I don't necessarily want to go through the hassle of transport and registration outside the province..

If you are planning on tracking, brakes and oil cooler are an absolute must. Car and Driver did a test of "The Best Handling Car Under $40,000 (USD)". The Z lost major points because (quoted from the article)

"Even on the road drive, and despite the fitment of $580 NISMO brake pads and the $3030 Sport package, the Z’s brakes faded noticeably. We had to cool the stoppers repeatedly out of  fear of  failure. Then, while lapping Grattan, the engine-oil temperature reached roughly 290 degrees, and the car adopted a low-power mode for self-preservation. This required even more low-speed driving to cool things down. Not fun.

Thus, we were limited to just one hot lap at a time.
"

It's a common complaint of anyone that tracks the Z. It will overheat. Lots of car test articles out there that say the same thing. It's a known problem. If you drive it normally on the street, you won't go into "limp" mode or have any overheating issues, but hit the track without mods and you won't last long.

As for the NISMO being dicontinued, it's no wonder. There were only a handful that came to Canada and they didn't sell well at all. Some are still out there in the showrooms. Heck, the Z itself is a poor seller and constantly shows on the the lowest selling cars in Canada list. Personally I like that! I like having a unique car.

As for the NISMO, there are plenty of Z owners like me that think it's just plain ugly and ruins a very sexy car by making it look like rice.

But, if you want one, you can find them.

care to share? haha.

I read an article before, forgot it's from CarAndDriver or Road&Track, but what happen was they were doing hot laps with whole bunch of sports car and the NISMO was one of them. During one of the NISMO's hotlap, its brake just fade out completely and the whole car slammed into the barrier W/O any braking.

Later the magazine received a reply from NISSAN saying that the NISMO is NOT for track purpose.

Anyway, the magazine redo a braking with NISMO later on, and still the brake fading issue was serious. Eventually, they have to change the brake-fluid, then the brake line, then the pads, then the rotors.

Oil temperature, is a serious issue when tracking a Z, I don't track my Z, but if you do a search in this forum, you'll find TONS of members talk about it.

By the way, why you like the NISMO so much?

For the extra bucks, you can mod a base Z to a better one, at least for the brake, add an oil cooler and your choice of wheels and tires, LOL.

just my 2cents.

nizmo370 12-28-2011 08:45 PM

yea i know but i really like the front bumper, sides , rear and spoiler. Not to mention the sexy wheels. I know i can get a base model and do the swap but i also like the fact that that i can say "i have a nismo" lol.
