Turbo 370z's?

Anyone in Canada ALREADY running FI in their 370z's? Not who has what on the way or what not.

Curious to see who tuned your car and how it is adapting to the Canadian fuel...

There is a supercharged 370 in Edmonton. Owner is not on the forums. He's had it since April.

Nitrouz is there really a problem with Canadian fuel? I never had problems with my z32TT.... Mind you that was back when I used sunoco 94. Now I have just been using shell 91 with the "added nitrogen"

DjSquall 08-24-2011 06:10 PM

There's a supercharged one in Ottawa too

LMBmikeZ 08-24-2011 07:13 PM

Yep! He's been running it for over a year now to and just got it tuned good apparently!

elysium is running the stillen supercharger for a few months now.

Forum member Chinook just got a STS rear mount turbo installed. He's in Edmonton.

I'm wondering because from experience, our fuel (94 chevron withOUT Ethenol) is inferior to knock prevention compared to US fuel. With my GTR, it had to be (de)tuned from other custom tunes from the states due to detonation / knock. Knock count was insane until we lowered the boost and timing. My 420ztt was tuned in California for 91 octane, but using our 94 octane locally still produced lots of audible knock, until we detuned it slightly. If it wasn't for my built motor, it'd be in pieces. Also recently saw a GTM TT 370z with a bent rod after just 2 weeks of driving since returning from GTM.

That's why I'm wondering...I know for a fact it's inferior and we cannot run the same tuning maps as those in the states even with their 91 octane (usually with 10% ethanol). I tried running with 94 octane locally WITH 10% ethanol and knock count showed improvement on my Cobb AP in my GTR, but still not within the safe zone...

That's who we were talking about he's had it for over a year now. His old name was pat@speedmerchants when he was a vendor.

Yes, that's me. I haven't had any issues with detonation and fuel here in Ottawa.
It's just been tuned at 9psi by Vince at R/T Tuning and laid down 440whp on a 95degree afternoon. Completely happy with how the car is running right now.

I'm running a stage 2 GTM TT on my z, and have been for about 8000km with no issues, it's tuned on 94 octane at the moment.

LMBmikeZ 08-29-2011 05:03 AM

Nice Vinny! That's sick! 10lbs is a good number to run. I was always running between 10-12psi on my TT 300zx it's good amount of push!

Elysium 08-29-2011 10:22 AM

Hey Vinny, I'd like to check out your car one day. Mtl is only a couple of hours away for me.

Vinny 08-29-2011 04:04 PM

Sure! We can set it up. I have a stage 1 shortblock on the way from GTM, so I will be putting that in as soon as it gets here and turning up that little silver knob on my evc-6 that has been teasing me lately :P
