Transmission Fluid - Redline MT-85

Anyone know where I can find Redline MT-85 (75w85 - Factory recommended weight) here in Toronto / Canada?

I called a few places, some never heard of it and thought I was crazy; some are still finding out and waiting for a call back.

Anyone?

I believe the MT-85 is brand new, so you'll be hard pressed to find it up in Canadia.

Have you tired Precision Tuning Motorsports 416-514-0284.

Tried and no...

How about Scarboro Mazda? They carry all types of red line

Have you considered Motul Gear Oil?
-It maybe more readily available and I personally used it in 2 z33's and it def seemed to reduce overall noise and provided for smoother (less notchy) shifts..
Anyhow, just mentioning another potential option for you.
GL!

Redline MT85 is perfect for the manual transmission service fluid change. Unfortunately, it's brand new and even has limited availability in the USA. Give them some time to get their distribution process going.

Thanks for the help. But still no words.

Will update for those who are interested in getting MT-85.

BTW, how many of people in Toronto want to get this oil? Can try asking if I can order a case or more.

Anyone else have a preference for tranny fluids???:?

sammy 09-22-2010 12:51 PM

This oil sounds great. I would be interested. I am also, about to change over to red line 5 W30 for the Engine as I'm just over 5000kms and the oil isn't burning off as much as with my first oil change at 1800kms. So I would like to change both over at the same time.

Forgive the ignorance - how often should we be changing our transmission oil?

IIRC 2 years or every 60,000KM, whichever comes first, per owner's manual.

Fantastic, long ways off - thanks :D.

I have herd some members saying they did it almost immediately after getting the Z, within the first month even!

I have yet to do it to my 370 but I am seriously considering doing it once it comes out of storage in the spring. I had done it to my 300zx two years ago with AMS oil and noticed a huge change in it! mind you it was a 1990 and who knows when it was done last! It eliminated the "4th gear grind" that was very common in the Z32's. I have no issues with the 370 but IMO I think it would just be better then the stock oils they have put in them..........

Update:

I found a seller on Amazon.com that sells the MT85 at 13.49 and $15.00 shipping.

I brought 4 bottles so total was around $70 CND.

Unfortunately, the seller shipped with UPS and UPS somehow managed to

rip-off, steal, robbery, thief, thieves, abduct, blackmail, burglarize, carry off, cheat, cozen, defraud, despoil, divert, embezzle, heist, hold for ransom, hold up, housebreak, keep, kidnap, loot, misappropriate, peculate, pilfer, pillage, pirate, plagiarize, plunder, poach, purloin, run off with, sack, shoplift, snitch, stick up, strip, swindle, swipe, take, take possession of, thieve, walk off with, withdraw. (Trying to make meta-tags here so people search UPS rip off, this post can come up)

$40 Brokerage Fee.

So total of $110 for 4 bottles.

Anyways, msg me if interested in buying this oil on Amazon. But remember to ask the seller to ship with USPS even if it is a higher price. Because UPS is total ********, crap, insane, stupid, retarded, dumbass, crazy.

Cheers

^ Yep that sounds like UPS alright.

You can also mix 2 weights to get the correct viscosity to do this change. Many people have done this fluid change this way.

I have a guy ordering this tranny oil. He is at 8600 Keele Street. He is getting a case of 24. He should have it in by Saturday. Yet, it's 18.95 per bottle. If you are interested his number is 416-514-0284. I'm picking up 3 bottles on Saturday, along with redline engine and diff oil.

Yamaha a few tips for UPS other than completely avoiding that rip off company.... call them up and complain but try and remember the person on the other end has the power to help you or not. They may give you a "one time" deduction of their rediculous fee. Explain your situation how you bought the item for xx$ and you had to pay the crazy fee, etc. I thought they had changed their evil ways and order parts in using them after boycotting them for nine years. Turns out they are just as evil as ever and it was another $45 on top of the $100 worth of parts - insane. They reversed the charges but I was pretty polite but let them know I wasn't happy and the fee was rediculous - a tricky balancing act but it worked out.

If you HAVE to ship via UPS use their most expensive shipping method or the one just below that and the brokerage is included. It's usually cheaper overall. Personally I have my stuff shipped to the US and I have a shipping company that ships it up and I brokerage it myself.

YamahaR6 03-22-2011 09:24 PM

Thanks for the tips. Wish I known about the 8600 Keele Place before I put the order. Anyhow Thanks.

And Thanks for the UPS tip, I will give that a try.

:iagree: That's how I (and many others) have done it.
