Most software programs give you the option of extending the edges so you can wrap the film around the edges, at least mine does.
Gaps will also vary depending on on the installer as well which is actually the most important factor when choosing where to go for this service.
You also have to consider that there are limitations to how much the film will stretch and while having the adhesive stay intact
