Headlight MODs

Anyone in Canada do headlight MODS? (i.e the LED landing strips or the iron man)

Or has had them done by someone like 180 degree customs etc and had them shipped back? I'm looking to get mine done but don't want to be rapped by customs and shipping costs.... I ordered all the LED's and the stuff to to it myself but am afraid of not getting the proper seal after doing them.

Any info or even tips on making a proper seal would be greatly appreciated!

I did mine, i gotta re-do them in the spring thought, i rushed the re-sealing and my left light fogs up. Biggest tip i have for you if you attempt to do this is not only take your time but just after you take the light out of the oven, once u get the lense off...while the sealant is still warm, make sure you get it ALL off of the lense and the housing. That was the issue i had, i got lazy and only took abit off, in the end it didnt get a 100% seal. I never did the LED's so i might do those in the spring as well.

Like i said guys, its a easy job but takes time. It took me about 7 hours to complete, that includes taking the front fascia off, headlights out, taking everything off, baking, painting, switching to brighter HID bulbs and re-assembly. Here are some pictures.

wow, looks good snakes, thanks for the tip! i"ll definitely keep it in mind when i work up the balls to pull mine apart.... I've done mods before, and alot of stereo install/wiring, but something about baking and pulling apart a set of like $1000 headlights holds me back! lol

One other question... the orange/amber reflector of the headlight, do you know if there is an aftermarket clear corner to replace that or know of what others have done to replace that part? I hate the look of it and have seen headlights modded without it!

^ What colour are you working with? Are you paint matching as well?

be sure to post final pictures! I'd love to see how they turn out! I'll do the same when the time comes with mine!

Have it shipped back as a repaired item - shouldn't have to pay taxes on something you already bought....

I don't know about everyone else but I'm considering the mod because I personally like the way they look... From looking at the stock headlight closely it almost appears to me that Nissan almost made the indents for purpose but forgot to finish them. The indents scream to be played with.

Colour matching on the other hand is completely up to the individual, not sure if I'm against it or for it as of yet.... I know from seeing the Ferrari steallth headlights it looks very attractive.

Sent mine down to Marco of MRWorks in San Diego. The only cost in coming back across the border was a $34.00 brokerage fee.

sweet pics man. how much for the headlights mod?

Ztoon 02-15-2010 10:13 AM

It varies depending on the options you choose. Total for me was about $750.00.
Landing strip LEDs', color matched shrouds, and satin black housing.
