Front plate bracket

This relates to Canadian cars. When I picked up my car the front plate bracket wasn’t mounted. The dealer said, you can mount it if you want, but you will get $2000 less for your car on a trade in if you bring it back here. Why? A lot of customers won’t buy it with the bracket installed. Suggested I get a relocation bracket, which I did.

Found it strange since it’s a requirement for a front plate. Thought maybe because of our weak dollar they send the trades south to make money on the strong U.S. dollar. Anyone else hear this?

I think your dealer is blowing smoke. I was upset because I bought my car in Quebec where they dont have a front plate, when I brought it to ON I had to buy the plate mount which was an additional cost. $2000 less, LOL a brand new painted front bumper can be installed in 20 mins and cost less than $600 total.

Thought it would be more.

it probably would be going through a dealer but no where near $2000. The whole reason I bought the front mount, aside from a front plate being required in ON is because I got pulled over for no front plate a few days after bringing the car home from QC. Cop didnt care that I had ordered the front mount, he still gave me a ticket and I went to court and had it dropped.

Quebec cars might be different but you should have negotiated more and get that installed for free or you say that you'll walk out the door. They won't give you nothing, you have to tell them that's what it is and you walk out. I hope you had a good deal on this car.

That sucks. All about being at the right place at the wrong time. What’s the fine for no front plate?

They told me that the plate had to be mounted before I left. Luckily my sales guy was cool and “forgot” I ended up mounting it lower then the paint. Just in the black mesh part

Great idea! Picking up my Z in the next couple of weeks an will tell them the same. No front bumper bracket. I will mount it on the black mesh.

Thanks!

I purchased an EOS V2 from Amazon. Full sized tow hook plate relocator, $91 Canadian. There are many pictures on the web. Very easy to install.

Do you happen to have the link to it still?

I'll need one soon. Thanks much.

Bull .... I sell them in BC and there is no way I’d give you any less in trade if it has it or not. If it’s not mounted go for a remount option rather than screw into the black plastic.

And if you are careful you get 2 tiny holes in the black plastic. Just use Indy screws for the plate and it won’t mark the paintwork.
