what do i do? a shop damaged my mold and trim

so if you read my previous thread i had tickets and one was to get my tints removed, im sooo pissed bc they dropped the tint ticket without me saying a word, BUT heres where the issue begins, on may 1st i went to tint king on kennedy, it was raining super hard but took some pics before i gave them the car to remove JUST the driver and passenger tints, i the process requires a razor and heat gun, i have one and heard them using it on mine and my car was the only one there to be worked on, got the car back and i did a check up and noticed burned marks on my rubber mold and weather stripping on the exterior driver side, he denied it, said they dont use heat guns, only a razor blade... i can guarantee they used a heat gun..... any suggestions? bbb cant really do much but i went ahead with that process already, going to send an email to get with the ontario.ca consumer protection act and lastly i was told to take them to small claims court and that will cost me around $500............. called nissan got the parts number and was quoted a bit over $500 for the repair. Its noticeable if you look at it and if your anal about your car which i am bc i take care of it, i love cars as im a car guy and i bought my Z new years back. I wish i never got it removed but i was worried theyd check it and find out i lied and give me a huge fine, a family friend had a ticket for tint and his car was checked out to see it was removed.

any other suggestions? i cant comprehend the fact that businesses can damage your vehicle than you have to dish out hundreds for court.. and even then you might not win.

ill post pics as soon as i make the file smaller

This happened to my passenger side rubber molding around the small porthole when my tint was being put on. Just use a bit of back to black. It will clean it up, almost, but not perfect.

z_nation 05-09-2017 09:51 AM

damn this sucks. Id be doing the same thing if this had happened to my car

I guess that's a quick fix but I'm not going to let them think they can damage people's cars and get away with it and take their money. If I don't do anything they'll do it to the next guy.

Zeetah 05-09-2017 11:13 AM

Tint king 1213 kennedy

Zeetah 05-10-2017 08:11 PM

some guy called after an email and now says come down for us to check what was damaged, now i have to waste more time going down there, or should i just show them pics? what would be suitable

SouthArk370Z 05-10-2017 08:51 PM

Take it in. Difficult to tell much from pictures. They may be able to fix it up on the spot.

Nixin 05-11-2017 06:32 AM

Take the vehicle in on your time, maybe on the weekend. Let the manager know that you are a member of a few clubs and forums and that you have communicated this issue to the other members. You are expecting them to resolve this as social media and internet will light up if they don't.

I think I should do the same thing. Went to get the service done on my Z, also got CSC and Oil cooler put in, got the car back, brought it home, saw that there were scratch marks on the front (top right) of my bumper. Should I call and ask for $ for the damage the caused?

Which shop did you use? Do not procrastinate, call the shop asap. Speak to the manager and ask him to fix the damage they caused. Be nice but firm. Make sure the deal/agreement is in writing, an e-mail is fine. People forget what they promised.

Ahhhh, I do not want to give the name out here. I want to see what kind of response I get before I "release the Kracken". All I can say it was shop located in Mississauga known for the quality of their work and their character. Owner has stepped out, I 'll call him in a few and keep you posted.

Nixin 05-16-2017 01:49 PM

Looking for our opinions and help, yet you don't want to share basic info with us??? Ya gotta give a bit to get a bunch, ya know? Suit yourself.

No, I agree with you. However, I don't want to release the name, good or bad experience unless something extremely bad went down.

Regardless, called up the shop, talked to the owner, he said it's not the first time this has happened. There's a rental car place next to them and the young more "eager" drivers are dead set on providing speedy service.

I was told to bring my car over and that he would take a look at the scuff and he would get his detailer to deal with it.

Nixin 05-16-2017 03:34 PM

We are kind of a 'family' here, not many Z owners, even less Canadian Z owners. I say, help each other out where and when you can. I'm happy that the owner at least stepped up and is willing to make things right. That is the sign of a decent human being and a good businessman. BTW, I have heard good things about Boost Theory, 'assuming' of course this is the shop you took your Z to, the one beside the car rental place (Enterprise). Cheers. :rofl2:

No one said you were droppin' any hints ;). I just used my 'investigative-detectitative' skills and figured it out  Let us know what happens when the episode is finalized.

Nixin has his Sherlockholmes game on point. I will definitely keep you all posted. By the way Nix, do you have coilover extenders installed? If so, did you cut them down lengthwise? I have no idea how to go about it:ughdance:

To date, I have not touched the stock suspension. I don't think I will mess with it for now. Next big purchase will be the Michelin PS4S tires. Did you talk to the guys at Boost Theory? Better yet, give my buddy Benny at Tires23 a shout and tell him that Nick, his neighbour, referred you. They are great peeps over at Tire23: Tires 23 :: Mississauga ON Tires & Auto Parts Shop

Zeetah 05-16-2017 09:52 PM

this Z community has helped me a number of times, love this forum, lots of nice people.
i did send the email, also got a reply and told them that i am very busy with work and id come in on my own time, but i rather meet him somewhere in the middle, i just feel as if ill waste more time going all the way up there to the tint king on steeles where the head office is, he will look at it and deny it and waste my time and gas

Say word. Well I bought the car off someone, already had the coilovers on it so why not? PS4S tires = beast, so much sticky icky:happydance: Talk to them in regards to extenders or the paint damage? For extenders no. Paint damage, going in Saturday morning, says he knows a guy (detailer) who can fix it for me, what I do not know is if I have to pay or not. . . I'm guessing I will.

Tires23 I went there years ago for my suv (winter tires and rims). Will they help me with the extenders? Regardless need new tires for one my cars, will go get a price quote from them. I usually go to Z racing, have you heard of them?

Bro do not have a defeatist attitude otherwise you are done before you even begin the discussion. On the other hand do not be to gung-ho either. Heads up, go in and tell them what the issue is. Be professional, to the point and demand recourse. You paid for work, not for damages.

Talk to the guys at Tires23 about the extenders, they are pro's so I can't see why they couldn't be of assistance. If they cannot assist you, they will at least put you on the right track to finding a solution. I have not heard of Z Racing before.

Yes, I've heard that the folk at Tires23 hold it down, I have experienced their service before and was pleased with it. As for Z racing, same thing as Tires23, great set of folk. If you ever go, talk to Sammy, tell him RedZ sent ya.

Take this in Nixin. There I was at the coin wash this Saturday. Pissed off about the scratch and all. While I was drying the car (microfibre of course) I came to the scratched area. I said hey, I'll rub it, what do I have to loose? I started rubbing it and to my surprise there went the "scratches".

Seemed to be a case of paint transfer so there was no need to get it looked at

Nixin 05-21-2017 04:51 PM

Good stuff. Happy it wasn't anything more!

Thanks for the positive vibes and advice, much appreciated. I called Tires23 about the coil over extenders, they said they could not do much in that department for me, but, they recommended "APEX Motoring". It's a service shop next to them, have you had any experience with them or heard anything good?

Nixin 05-23-2017 06:30 AM

You are very welcome. I have not had any experience with Apex Motoring nor have I heard of them. It might be a good idea to discuss this with them or even pop in for a look.
