garden hose or power washer question for ontario guyz

ive been using a garden hose with a foam gun attachment over the years, and was wonder what you guys use to wash your cars, the same as me? garden hose with a foam gun attachment or an electric/gas power washer with the foam gun attachment? i know the power washer shoots out more foam and thicker.. but am i really saving time? mind you id have to take the pressure washer outside, and inside ... lol, i know i know, i make it sound like its a lot of work, but you get my point

I use the 2 bucket with grit guards method, with claybar and waxing, it takes me about 3 hours lol :(

I need to try using the foam gun.....

Electric power washer and foam canon as a pre soak/wash and then the 2 bucket method.

garden hose, spray water to pre-soak the panel, then using the 2 buckets method.

I am more into the traditional ways, wash mitt to apply car-wash-detergent onto the panel, then rinse the panel with the "soak" function on the hose-head.

Panel by panel. usually the whole wash will take about 45-60 mins including the wheels.

If clay and wax, then add another 90 mins.

do you clay all the time?? I know you don't need to clay too often, but wax and be like once every 3-6 weeks.

I foam mine with a power washer attachment.
Then "sort of" two bucket.
Then I rinse and foam gun it again. Partly because it helps me empty the bottle. :icon18:

im not talking about the specific steps, just wondering if you either use a garden hose foam gun attachment or pressure washer foam canon.

invest in a foam canon and power washer... I used to use a regular foam gun, so much better.

that just takes off a layer of dirt, still plenty of dirt after you rinse.

Yeah I do exactly what you do. I try to wax and clay every 3 weeks or every 3rd wash depending on the dirtiness. I always clay before I wax for fresh coat :S

Yeah I just rinse normally with water, 2 bucket method with mitt each panel, and rinse then dry. For some reason, I thought with the pressure foam gun you can use it to rinse and scrub at the same time haha

not into power washer since it can rip the clearbra if it gets too close to it....

I wash mine when it's cool & no sun.
I get my bucket filled w/Meguiar's Ultimate wash/wax (1/4 cup 1gal.water)
wet the car down good & walk around with X-Large mitt....dipping & wiping/squeezing all over roof,hood,hatch,etc...then go back over with large circular motion.
Starting from top & working down...then glide over wheel's & rinse.
15-20min.
this is all pending it's not filthy/bug impacted.

When it comes to cleaning the Z or any type of work for that matter, you get back what you put in. I put in a lot when I detail my Z. Takes a good afternoon and carries over to the next day. Depending on your technique, you can get great results without a foam cannon or a power washer. However I recommend using a power washer. It does a good job with taking out grime and anything that sticks lightly on the car and clean your driveway if your not from California.

Regular garden hose, bucket, wash mit and shammy to dry. As a car soap, I use whatever is on sale. Oh yeah, I finish up all my washes with Turtle Wax Ice spray wax.

Man, either you guys are sweating the details big time or I'm behind the times with today's proper car washing process...........:rofl2::rofl2:

I use a 9 spray function garden hose. 2 bucket method with meguiar gold car wash.

Soak witu water (beading or sheeting confirms wax levels). Soap up wirh mf cloth and wash off. Even if it dries it's fine I really don't care. I'll run the air blower to dry. I use a sepwrate mf towel abd same soap for rims and wheel wells. Any water marks get some qd on it.

If I clay add another 90min. If I wax another hour or so. About 30 min application, 30 to cure and 45 min to take off.

Washes I can get done in 30 min. Usually once a week or ever other. Depends on rain and dirt levels
