Probably means -10 lb per rotor compared to stock. :icon17:

Most anyone would take that the other way. Also, did you think Z1 was being honest?

Joepro 08-22-2013 05:56 PM

nice price... and -10lbs per wheel, whoa...dang it z1, stop making stuff, just got the headers, now I NEED these haha.

ChrisSlicks 08-22-2013 07:36 PM

The OEM rotors are definitely 30lbs each for the front, the rear wasn't far behind either.

Mozen 08-22-2013 10:54 PM

I did weigh but did not take a picture of the scale. They are 10 lbs lighter each as advertised tho! Now i need to find time to go bed them in :)

Well if ones talking about light weight rotors which everyone knows they'll be a loss, asking is it a true 10 I'd say I'd disagree but to each their own. Plus I think most people here in a lightweight rotor thread who's even read one page would also know a rotor doesn't/couldn't weigh 10lbs so it'd be pretty obviously the weight was about the loss, again whatever. And in my experience, yes, manufactures tend to bend the truth. If I went off only them I'd have like 200 extra horse power from 10-20hp increase from all the bolt ons put together :icon18:. However in this case they seem to actually be a little low hence wanting a real world answer.

K thanks. When I buy ill bust out the gram scale. Seen a few OEM rotors very a little on scales as with the aftermarket.

^ good point

I would like to hear some real world feed back never dabbled in LW rotors but I would say dropping that much weight off the hub should improve steering response quite a bit?

It helps in several areas. Mostly small amounts but every little bit counts. The biggest factor in this case of rotors is your removing weight (unsprung) resulting in reduced sprung weight which is in motion. Never found a solid formula but for every pound that's reduce you lose a multiple of sprung weight. EXAMPLE ONLY: Losing 1lb of weight = 10lbs of rotational weight.

All this helps with making the car quicker, curb weight, and suspension load.

on my old 1999 prelude waaaay back in the day i went from Volk AV3's to some Volk te-37's.... OMG! the difference in handling was amazing! having felt that difference back then, im all for shaving weight anywhere in that area!

synolimit 08-23-2013 07:52 PM

My wheels and tires lost me about 35 pounds or something, like 9.5 each back wheel and 8 for each front. That's huge off the unsprung rotational weight but I can't really say I noticed a huge difference. I would love to do a back to back dyno though if I still had OEM wheels. I'm not sure this is correct but I'd think getting rear rotors would be better than fronts since those are the drive wheels.

Z1: Any chance you will make two piece rotors for the stock setup? I've been looking for lighter weight rotors to replace my stock set. I think Racing Brake makes 2 piece for the front only, for the stock setup.

You talking about the base brakes or the sport brakes? If you got the sport brakes. Racing Brake have the rear rotors. ;)

kcquinn49 08-24-2013 08:24 PM

Base brakes. No plans to be tracking the car. DD for the past 2 years. Just looking for lighter weight, nicer looking rotors.

nicer looking rotors? even if they were gold with diamonds on them the ugly part is the base caliper.

I have the front and rear 2 piece rotors installed with centric posi quiet pads ( for street use). I am LOVING this setup so far!! I have put about 150 miles on them since install and I am really impressed. The steering does feel lighter up front and more responsive! Braking feel is better but I cannot tell if distances from 60-0 for example are shorter at full pedal but at lower pedal input I do feel like the car is stopping more quickly.

Here are some pics:

And for you non facebook folks:

The shipped product will probably look slightly better. This set was used for testing.

They released 2 piece rear rotors? Do they require any cutting/trimming of the dust shield for installation?

synolimit 09-04-2013 04:21 PM

Looks good.

Nope. Same size as stock rotors so it is a direct bolt on. They are street testing still as spohn mentioned. I am just lucky / a guinea pig... lol.

I agree 100%. I'm looking also for aluminum calipers that fit the base coupe OEM rotors. Not having much luck.

Probably never going to find aftermarket fixed calipers for the base brakes, short of a custom solution, which would be insanely expensive.

damn looks nice!!!!

Super Werty 03-02-2014 08:54 PM
