Expertise requested: Alignment questions

2012 stock sport, 25k on the odometer.

I'm getting new rubber this weekend and got a quote for alignment from the same shop. Youngsteads Goodyear in maple grove MN.

I got this in reply....

"Good Afternoon Nick,
I recommend coming in for an alignment check for $29.95+tax/ss to start. This is to verify if your front and rear steering & suspension components are good/tight and to see where your tires currently sit. If there are any items (ball joints, tie rods, etc.) that we find are loose, those item(s) would need to be replaced prior to alignment. If we perform the services needed and perform the alignment or if the steering/suspension checked out good and we perform an alignment, the alignment check fee would be waived. If you choose not to repair any items, there still would be the alignment check fee. "

The shop is pretty reputable in town.

Does this throw anyone off?
What should I worry about on a non tracked 25k 2012?
As a suspension novice what should I know to protect myself from unneeded "repairs"?

Thanks in advance.

I think they punched 300zx which had a rear steering option. Save your 30 bucks get the tires and alignment. If your not lowering on springs you will be good to go.

Good info...

Thoughts from the field?

I have a little advanced wear on the passenger rear outside tire at the end of its life vs. the driver side.

NTB will "check" your alignment for free.

$80 to fix it tho i think?

my 09 has 15k miles on her. never aligned and probably never will unless i hit some
huge gaping pothole or bump causing the car to feel weird.

If your tires are wearing normally and your steering doesn't feel off then you most likely do not have any alignment issues and do not need a check at that mileage. At 50-100K it might be worth it to do a check.

I recommend doing a check in the first 5,000 kms and after new components and tires after that. The factory specs are not always accurate as I have found in my experience. Plus you can fine tune the settings this way as well.

$100 is a reasonable alignment fee in our area.

the car tracks straight, steering feels good, tires wearing pretty much flat.

i say no need. and im a guy that paid lots of money to setup my other car alignment after alignment after alignment, etc.
