ok to drive without strut brace?

This may have been asked before but I could not find it with a search. I want to get my strut bar coated or painted while it is getting the stereo system installed. But the coating may take a few days longer than the stereo install. Would it be ok to drive it for a few days without it? (like to work and back) Forgive me if this is a stupid question.

Yes, just don't go cornering through the hills...

You'll be fine for simple driving.

Thanks. That's what I needed to know. Easy on the long pedal and mellow in the corners it shall be.

Not sure how a Z will handle it but I wouldn't risk it. I've seen other cars where it caused problems ranging from minor difficulty getting the brace bolts to line back up to OMG-you're-boned. According to the previous replies, you'll be OK as long as you take it easy, but I still wouldn't take the risk.

Reading fail, deleted my previous 2 post, thought OP said running the car without the shocks.

It handles just fine without it. I had mine off for about a month

brutusvk 06-15-2014 08:57 PM

Not even sure you could drive the car without struts.

Same chassis as a g37, no brace.

Thank you for the responses. I appreciate it. I was just feeling paranoid. Like I said before, my first new car and it was almost as much as my first house. hahaha

If it was even close, you should've bought a second home

i would probably also avoid steep entrance ramps where you need to approach on an angle.

Mitco39 06-16-2014 09:57 AM

Infinity does it. I can't see the chassis being all that different up front.
