hey everyone... my eibachs finally came in... ill borrow my friends camera and try to do a DIY for installation of eibachs... but as of right now... :happydance: im so happy imma kill that fender gap...

Caravanshaka 08-27-2009 12:25 PM

good luck with the front spring compression on a DIY! have another vehicle available to bring the spring/strut combo to a shop to get them swapped out just in case!

In for pics :)

bullitt5897 08-27-2009 01:11 PM

GL in for pics! I have done this type of swap a half dozen times not really that hard. Just make sure you have a spring compressor to remove and replace them springs ;)

Mike

simota1 08-27-2009 07:02 PM

ive done this quite a few times but mostly hondas lol.... :ughdance: umm i think itll be the same thing though take out strut compress stock take out... compress eibach and lay it in correctly

Snakes709 08-27-2009 11:59 PM

when will u have pictures up...i wanna see if its really worth getting the springs.

RCZ 08-27-2009 11:59 PM

Its the same thing...you can always just do it the old fashioned way and have your buddy push them down while you get the hat on :) Reward him with a beer. All is good.

Shunya 08-28-2009 12:36 AM

congratulations, I've never been a lowering spring kinda person. always went with coils

ya, just be careful with those fronts since a few on the forum haven't been able to compress them enough with a general spring compressor to get them off. Mike (the powdercoater) had to take his to goodyear to get the springs swapped for $40.

simota1 08-28-2009 10:59 AM

hey everyone... i decided to not do a diy its to fuckin hard for a person with no mechanical skills to do this... i got to compress on driver side and installed it... it wasnt that hard to compress the springs takes a lil thinking though... i got bad news... :shakes head: the bottom nut holding the strut in place was rounded of by me when i decided to use the impact gun... sigh... thats not where it ends... i freakin just got rear ended like 30 mins ago the dood ran away!!! pissed me off!!! so i chased him and got his plate number ... dumass was proly drunk thas why he ran... haha funny part was... an toyota echo... cannot out run a z :roflpuke2: on a straight away... wat an IDIOT... at least start turning into the alleys or something... ugh...

Caravanshaka 08-28-2009 12:26 PM

damn dude, REALLY glad you got a plate number though, and that no one got hurt! Hope to see pics of the car dropped (with a new rear bumper) soon!

simota1 08-28-2009 04:46 PM

ya man... :shakes head: guy makes me irritated...

simota1 08-29-2009 05:14 AM

alright up date on springs... after the round off the nut i took it to a shop and they got it done... it looks... just a tad bit lower... i would give it a 8outa 10 my only complaint is the front is higher than the rear?!? :shakes head: hopefully it settles and it looks level... btw... my mud flaps came in and the guy dedided to put them on for me for me sooo i guess i cant do a DIY on the drop or the flaps cuz i have no pictures wat so ever... also my nismo black shift knob :happydance: feels nice... had to break the stock one though... haha no way saving that one..

Not with Eibachs you wont...youll still be left with almost 3 fingers of gap...

ssqpolo 09-09-2009 04:51 PM

^^really? any other springs that go lower? i dont want to spend on coils

well..... not three fingers..... look at the pic... it practically flush.... i can only fit one finger in those... front and the rear is a lil lower... if the front was like half an inch lower it would be sooo sick... and i dunno if u would want anything lower than that for normal driving i am scraping the crap out of my chin spoiler.... and i already scraped the bottom of my bumper... anything lower would leave u slowing to a full stop angleing ur car just to go over a speed bump.... :shakes head:

ssqpolo 09-09-2009 05:10 PM

tru. i'll proly get myself some eibachs. this car is begging to be lowered a little. are u gonna put spacers too?

simota1 09-09-2009 06:29 PM

yes.... but after camber kits...

2theextreme 09-09-2009 07:35 PM

No camber kit for me......BR coilovers only...looks about as low as yours, simota:

Thanks! :tiphat: I'm hoping to get those CF B Pillars and the CF Front and Rear Valence. Side skirts....hmmmm.....not a bad idea! Dont want to overdo it, tho......the appearance of just the wheels and tires make for a nice "sleeper" car. Oh....and I already get looks from the cops. Like this > and then this > "I wanna pull THAT one over!"

simota1 09-10-2009 07:28 AM

2theextreme... ur own is wayyyy lower than mine... urs looks sooo sick i hope my eibachs settle down to like ur stance... thats the perfect stance in my opinion...

simota1 09-10-2009 07:33 AM

no need, eibachs lowers the car.. it doesnt make the car have a slammed look....

simota1 09-10-2009 08:07 AM

wat do u mean? itll get high when i get camber kits?

Caravanshaka 09-10-2009 08:13 AM

he's saying you aren't dropped enough to warrant a camber kit, but even eibach's produce nearly 3 degrees of negative camber in the rear. I'd still suggest the camber kit myself.

simota1 09-10-2009 08:16 AM

o ok.... :D ummm i think i need one for the rear... the front camber is minimal the rear... is noticable...

LOL. sleeper in a electric blue Z! that screams fast. the side skirt things are really not flashy...subtle, but sexy.
