Coilover question
 

I have been doing alot of research but the choices are overwhelming and can somebody tell me the maximum I could lower my nismo without having any issues? I plan on running 30 profile tires so I am thinking my drop might be limited.

what do you consider to be an issue? Coilovers are usually ride height adjustable so if you have "issues" just raise it up:tup:

Agreed. There's a million variables to talk about here - ride height, camber, "fitment," performance, and comfort.

I am wanting to know which coilover is best and what's the lowest drop I can achieve without running into problems. I don't want to destroy my skirts.

That's subjective. Lower it till you have issues :ugh2:

These two things are mutually exclusive. Short of tracking down something from Moton or Penske, the best readily available coilovers are going to be KWs or something of that caliber. The ones that will go really low are usually not considered the best. Your suspension geometry will be out of whack long before you destroy your sideskirts.

I'm going through the same research right now. I'll just share what I've found

Coil overs- If you don't track your car, you're probably going to be fine with just springs. They will do the job and lower the car an inch or two. For me, I'm not tracking the car. But, at the same time I kinda pride myself on doin things right and going above and beyond and getting more than I need for the car. I realize it's more than I need but I'm going with coil overs. As far as which ones.....that's subjective. I'm finding for people who just want to lower the car and have a good ride, Stance SS are one of the most popular. For more serious guys and track racers KW v3's.

Height- I live in Chicagoland, so if I want to go lower than a couple inches I'll be scraping and having problems. So if I go lower than that, I'm going to look into air motion cups to raise it up when I drive

Don't forget camber and toe! You'll need at least a rear camber kit, and depending on how low you go, you may need rear toe kit and front upper control arm.

I see people talking about Kw's, Bilstein, Stance, but what are people's 2 cents about Tein? Just wanted to know what people's think about Tein. Please share. Mono Flex versus others.

Thanks for the help guys :-) I had a good read over a lot of new info that was very helpful. I think I am going to go the swift springs route. I have heard great things so I hope all goes well for me.

Maybe coil's are alittle overboard but if you buy springs, shocks & struts you could buy the stance or BC coilovers for a little less.

Swifts and Konis are much better from a handling standpoint than $1k coilovers.

Ya probably, so your saying swifts and koni's is better then Stance SS? For me, there will be no track time, maybe a little parking lot autocross cone type work but thats it. So I should just go for that setup? I suppose its like a put it on and not have to adjust anything. What about bilstine s\s?

I haven't seen a bilstein shock for the Z34 yet. If you're going for handling, a good shock/spring combo will be what you want. If you just want to go really low, cheap coilovers are what you want.
