StopTech SS Brake Lines
Alright, so I picked up some Stoptech SS lines and when I am trying to install, it seems I am missing something.
These boxes that the stock lines feed into, they can't be removed from the stock lines. The new lines I got don't have these boxes, so it seems something isn't right. It seems all the other aftermarket lines come with these boxes as part of the lines so I'm not too sure what's going on here. Any help is appreciated. |
After looking at it further, it looks like this SS kit also replaces the stock hard lines the stock rubber lines feed into. I just assumed it would replace only the rubber portions.
I sent an email to StopTech to confirm, so I'll see what they say. In the meantime though, any insight is appreciated :) |
Looks like the new ss hose replaces the hard lines and blocks too. See if you can line up the ss hose at the fender connection and the caliper to see if it would fit.

Yeah that's what it was. It completely replaces all of it. Here are some pics of them installed.

yes, it eliminates all the hard lines and soft lines. you connect it to the lone hardline coming from the engine bay and then to the actual caliper. i have these lines and they're a pain in the *** to be honest. i had them mounted, went for a test drive, and saw that the one mount you use on the strut was rubbing against the rubber coating and rubbed a small cut into it.
there was some trial and error for me there. i had to mount it in a way where it could freely pull in and out when the wheels turn without rubbing into any of the rubber coating. |
:iagree: I am using the ZSpeed SS brake lines and they have the same design as yours.

After I took those pics I re-routed them behind the upper arm there. The line was pretty close to the rotor and I'm sure it would have rubbed at some point.

I don't like either one of those. The SS lines going through that tight metal sleeve is not a good idea. Great way to cut and wear out the SS line.

See this pic? See the lines bent down more so then the top with a gap? I don't care how strong SS is. Metal on metal contact is not for me when involving a brake line. OEM style aftermarket kits are better for me. |

In the pic the wheels are fully extended down because the car is on a lift. We've been using SS brake lines for years and years for their durability and performance enhancements over stock rubber lines. The lines do not wear in the brackets that hold them. They slide easily in and out and will barley ever move regardless in that position as it all moves together, Strut, wheel, knuckle, all that moves at the same time. It's not like there is pressure on the line there and it's being yanked in and out of the bracket.... They are also coated in PVC for even more protection against wear. It's pretty simple really, It's not going to wear. I figure they probably would not be DOT legal if there were any safety issues with them. |

This is what the POS stoptech lines look like after a few months when they fail and leave you with a quart of brake fluid splattered all over your wheels and car.

Hi, I don't know what to say but I have a complete set (fronts/rears) and have no complaints. The SS lines provided from StopTech for the fronts are protected and compatible w/ the Nissan GTR. You might have an old generation line.

1st. Those look different than mine. Mine looked more like the OP. Mine came with installation instructions that looked like they came out of a fortune cookie. Just like the OP.
I ordered the fronts back in September form Amazon. This is the part # (950.42012) 2 minutes of googling on my phone while waiting for the tow truck provided so much more insight into the world of stainless steel brake lines. I must have spent 30min googling to make sure it was the correct part for my car before clicking "add to cart".
