Coilovers for my '13 roadster

Ok Zexperts..:)

I've searched and researched this to death and I've decided to move into a coilover rather than just a lower spring for my '13 vert.

My logic is based on the fact that i) there's little concise data on the amount that springs lower a vert - lots of data on the coupe but with the different spring rates its impossible to know and ii) I'm really warming up to the ability to adjust ride height and quality/performance. Both of these concerns come from that fact that I'm planning on driving the car through the winter (I could raise the car a bit in the fall) and that the roads in my town are not the greatest (I can tweak to the best compromise between looks and ground clearance).

Originally I wanted to keep the price below $1k but that only offered me the entry level products which I'm never usually a fan of. At the other end, I'm not going to track my car so I want something I can live with on a daily driver. Research has shown me that I want a spring rate at or below 10..

So far the only Coilover I seem to like is the Tein Super Street w/pillowball mounts as it seems to be of high quality and a decent amount of features. The addition of the PM's is an added bonus.

Ok finally.. mind if I ask a few questions???

Tein states that these are not for the roadster.. is this because they haven't tested it? It is exactly the same fitment as the coupe, correct???

Does the front PB mount have some camber adjustability to it?

I plan to lower it about 1", will I need a camber kit(s) to bring it back into OEM spec. I'd rather have it installed at the same time for obvious economical reasons

Is there another "middle of the road" coilover you would recommend. My expectation would be quality over quanitity (ie. features).

Many thanks in advance!!

Patrick.

I have mine sitting on Stance and don't have any complaints so far. Bought them used with about 5k on them. They also came with rear camber and toe arms.

I would assume that all coilovers are universal. These came off of a coupe.

Mine is dropped about 1-3/4" and can be a little too low at times, but it's not horrible.

Wow, that looks great but a little low for the roads around my place..lol

Heres mine, 2010 on stance gr+ coilovers, not sure how low i am. Ride quality is nice, firmly planted. I had it for over a year. When I first installed it , the ride was rough. Once i tweaked everything out its riding pretty good right now. My fronts are set to full stiff, and my back is set to half way. Stance is a great set of coilovers. But it did not come with a very detailed set of instructions lol

Nice another roadster on Stance. I really need to set my front to full stiff cause I'm constantly rubbing on the highway or hard turns.

My front wheels gave me a hell of a time with rubbing, had to roll , pull fenders, and mod the fender tab. 20x9.5 +12 and im running a stretch 235/35/20 at -2 ° . Its smooth sailing now

This is note a shamless bump..lol

Ive shortlisted the BC type BR and the Stance Super Sports.

The Stance seem to have a better build quality, Is this correct.. I would prefer the softer ride of the BCs (based purely on spring rate spec)

Swift springs list their drop rates on their website. It's ~2" front and rear. Which is about the most you can lower this car anyway(even with colis). otherwise you lose too much wheel clearance and will not have enough shock travel.

The price of cheap 1 way coilovers is about the same as a Koni+Swift setup. And the Koni and swift setup will last well beyond the cheap coils + Koni is easily rebuildable.

Not correct. 1.2 front, 1.0 rear. Same as many people have clammed on here.

Ah my bad. Yeah that would be on the shorter end of the drops then. I think Eibach goes a bit further then(1.7 and 1.8" or something). Both are really well designed solutions, and you will not hear anything bad about either.

for reference: Swift Springs USA

Just throwing my two cents out there, if I was going to go for a easy suspension upgrade, I would rather spend 1900.00 on swifts and koni sports than 1 way coilovers. Even the good 1-ways like KW v1 are still in the 1500.00 range and they don't use a true type in the back.

I'm sure coilovers for street use on the rear are OK, but for track use there is some potential problems for mounting them on that unreinforced tower. In most of the competitions out here mounting to anything other than OEM tower bumps you into modified or unlimited class.
