perform wheel alignment before or after installing plus size wheels?

The Z is getting 20s tomorrow, coming from stock 18s. As the title states which is better? The guy at discount tire (whom is installing the wheel/tire) said to get them done after I put the 20s on.

I currently have 31k on the Z with no misalignment issues noticeably and this would be the first alignment.

Might as well do it after. Go someplace that will sell you a lifetime alignment so you don't have to pay every time. You should get it done every so often anyway.

Yes definitely get one. See what happens to tires in my journal if you have a bad one.

And mine was stock 18s, never changed the suspension, tires or anything - just came with a crappy alignment job that I didn't check when I bought it.

The alignment can be out from the factory. Just because it's not destroying your tires doesnt mean it can't be better.

if i were you, unless you had issues with alignment before (tracking issues, wear issues, etc), i would NOT get an alignment just for wheel/tire change. you car can end up coming out worse. it's really up to the tech.

That is why you go to Firestone who offer lifetime. Anytime it don't feel correct you take it back. I got 20's installed with bigger tires with springs/camber kit so I took the lifetime. Gotta pay for quality work

All good points I went to 20s two months ago came out with bad shake from 80to 140
Took it back to Sears where I got them installed by family friend yes I was concerned it was Sears but felt he would take care of it brought it back today found out they didn't add enough weights at install
Anyway redid everything no charge even though he no longer works there. Very happy with them

Thats a balance issue, not alignment...
