getting rear camber arms adjusted..

I am planning on lowering my car and getting a set of spc rear camber arms. MY question is this, when I take it to get aligned is the dealer going to be ok adjusting those camber arms considering it's not stock and they may have no idea how to adjust them?

Basically I am just wondering if I am going to run into problems getting someone to adjust these things...

kenchan 02-12-2013 02:27 PM

it's not rocket science. i am sure your dealer is more than capable of working a nut and turnbuckle...

JAYNO20 02-12-2013 02:42 PM

maybe capable... but will they without a **** fest?

kenchan 02-12-2013 02:53 PM

which rear camber arms did you get?

the process should be similar to adjusting the front toe using the steering rod.
i guess the term turnbuckle is more for adjustable endlinks, but just saying it's not rocket science.

I agree with Kenchan. If they don't know how to adjust the camber arms, I would be hesitant on letting them do the rest of the alignment. Its very straightforward.

How much is your dealer charging? I was considering the same thing.

JAYNO20 02-12-2013 03:07 PM

I will be getting the spc arms

jpritche 02-12-2013 03:19 PM

I have SPC arms and they are super easy to adjust.

Yeah but do you have any problems with the dealer not wanting to adjust them?

kenchan 02-12-2013 04:04 PM

how about you call them and ask?

JAYNO20 02-12-2013 04:13 PM

It's a simple question folks... has anyone had experience with this? I just want to know if anyone has had their camber arms adjusted without issue...

If I wanted to call I would have already done that.

:ugh2: so you think if my dealer can do this, your dealer can too? are all dealers exactly the same?

wtf is wrong with you.

spc rods are a simple design. any competent alignment shop including your dealer can do it. if YOUR dealer wants to touch non-oem part is up to your dealer's tech. you need to talk to your dealer and ask.

at least, that's wat id do.

JAYNO20 02-12-2013 04:31 PM

Doesn't HAVE to be the dealer... just wondering in general if there are problems getting these things adjusted or not.

Seems pretty straight forward to me...

you make no sense.

anyway, ive had my local alignment shops and dealers adjust various kinds of camber and toe rods, bolts in the past with no issue. spc is no different.

ive also had experience where a dealer did not want to touch my car as their alignment rack was too tall to get my lowered car on their machine. that's one of hundreds of dealers in my area.

so like i said, call beforehand, or take your rod with you and ask them if they'd install and align your car. you basically need to have the rod installed and aligned at the same time on these cars unless you can perfectly match both lengths while you install by yourself...but looking at your question, you probably havent done this diy in the past so best to have the alignment shop install it for you and adjust it.

Like I said... I never said it HAD to be a dealer. Either way, thanks for the info!

My dealership won't touch them but its all good, my alignment shop is fully capable. Guess it depends on the dealership.

Interesting! Thanks for the info.

Put it this way, any shop who has the equipment to do 4-wheel alignment is capable to do what you request.

Period.

My local dealer installed and aligned all my SPC bits. They also installed the GTM kit, so they're obviously willing to play ball. If yours won't, figure out which alignment shop the guys who track/autox their cars use.
