I want to lower my car

So I decided to get suspensions for my car 2009 Touring 370Z. Wheels are 19 inch. What is a safe drop for my 370z so that it wont scrape on speed bumps every time?

It depends how you drive/where you're driving

I know it's a douche response, but that IS THE answer

hey bro check this out it might help you out a lil bit with your decision. maybe get some springs before you go all out and get some coilovers

and by the way, you have a z dude its going to drag at one point or another even if you DONT lower it.

I live in MD and the main way of travel down here is through small high ways. The smaller roads arent too bumpy, there are few hills. thats about it

It's all in how many speed bumps, tall curbs and sharp inclines you have to drive on. If your driveway is on a 45 degree angle to your street, keep your drop minimal (an inch or less) or get used to scraping. :)

In my experience, you most likely won't survive the speed bumps or steep driveways even with a mild drop. There is no safe drop. It WILL scrape be prepared. It also depends on how heavy you are and if you count your passenger or not... Drive slow and angle it might minimize the damage(Or just drive super fast and jump over the speed bump:ugh2:).

I'd save up some money and get the coilovers. That way you can at least adjust the ride height according to your local environment.

im on swifts, roughly about 1inch drop and do scrap sometimes steep inclines and speed bumps

I scrape the black plastic undercover not the bumper or my exhaust

Dropped on swifts

Scraping is inevitable no matter what. Don't drop if you're concerned about scraping. All my "hits" occur on the front of the car. Once on the skirt and thankfully (knock on wood) none in the rear. Also, to me anything less than a .75 inch drop is not worth doing.

I'm in love with my coils, had to play with the ride height and camber for a few months. But the drop is so sexy. Sure I scrape the plastic lip every now and then but its only when I'm not careful on steep driveways.

I lowered my car, and eventually went back to stock due to my driveway and the section of Houston I live in..

I'm dropped on swifts and I can clear every nondemon speed bump I've encountered.
There have been a couple that would've been hard to clear stock, but those were avoidable.

I've scraped once on my driveway, where the drive was very concave, just wasn't paying attention.

However, I never scrape on a backroad, even ones with reallllly funky turns hills. One has a micro version of the corkscrew at LS. Even though it feel like i'd scrape at the bottom transition, I always clear it. Now, much more of a drop, and I'd have to take the turn slowly.

IMO 1-1.5 inches will be the limit for driving and braking hard around places. Much lower and you'd have to really think about scraping everywhere.

if your gonna lower even a lil bit your gonna scrap. stock i had a few bumps..

ive been lower'd on teins, it's not a crazy drop... but i hit all the time, just lil scrapes like the front dragging. i try to avoid speedbumps though, the sound of clunking on the top of a big one makes me cringe. its like rolling the dice everytime i go over one.

with that said i would like to try the swifts... i hear it's a better product. or go all out with some nice coilovers.
