Advice Needed - Camber out of Spec

This morning the dealer claimed that my front camber was out of spec and causing the tires to wear unevenly...funny thing is, my suspension is completely stock. They also said it is not adjustable...so what do I do? Invest in a camber kit to save my tires? I would like to go the coilover route at some point, just was not expecting to need a camber kit on stock Nismo suspension!

What do you see the tires doing? Toe could be out causing the wear instead. Have it checked out if you see abnormal wear. Then go from there

The tech claimed they are wearing on the inside edges more than outside, thus saying the camber was out of spec. I haven't had a chance to look closely myself, but I am skeptical...especially since we can't adjust the camber and the suspension/tires are 100% stock. Could be toe, thanks for the heads up.

I have a feeling the weight of the turbo kit is causing the front of the car to drop and throwing the camber out of alignment. Guess I will have to order a camber kit.

Maybe. I know TT kits are about what? 125lbs+?

Yup, I would guess it adds about a 100 lbs total with what gets removed vs. added. Here is what my tires look like...any advice on camber kit brands? :icon14:

SPC front camber arms are really your Only option right now. Just make sure the nut on too gets torqued to 150lbs.

What about the Kinetix? The SPC design looks prone to slippage to me, but you would definitely know better. Thoughts?

SPC all the way. I've never had slippage as long as you tighten to what I said. When I had my crash at the track I bent the inner tie rod and the camber never slipped. Not even .1 when I went back to get a realignment.

Well that settles it then. Thank you for your help!

I wish I could wait, but it is taking a toll on my tires. Any word on time frame for the release?

jujubii 11-19-2012 02:45 PM

they always say 'soon' but that's never the case :(

in my opinion... unless you're dropped (which isnt the case) you really shouldn't need a camber kit. the oem arms should have an enough wiggle room to get you back into spec. the extra 125 lbs really shouldn't take you significantly out of range. hell, that's just another passenger!
-1.5 is still factory spec (the max, i believe) and the wear you posted doesnt seem like -1.5 to me with all the meat left on the outer tire. i would take it to a tire shop and ask for them to measure it out for you first (shouldn't cost much or anything at all to get a reading). you should be looking at, at most -1.5camber in the front and at most +/- 0.125toe for tirewear. if anything is outside the range, i feel it should be correctable with oem suspension.

That is what I was thinking originally. I was surprised to see the tires wearing that badly. The dealer didn't give me camber specs, but it definitely is off. I was under the impression that there is ZERO adjustability with the stock setup. Is that not the case?

I just had an alignment after coil over install. I only have rear camber kit so he got that into .02 degrees of stock. The fronts are almost 1.2 higher then stock. That is the best he could get them until I get front arms. He did bring them in some I wish I had a scanner to scan the print out. I will try and take a picture and post it.
